followed by the program from 7:15 - 7:45 a.m. The title of the final presentation is Transformed in Community.

THANKSGIVING CHOIR
A rehearsal for the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service Choir will be held Saturday, November 22, at 11:00 a.m., in the choir loft. All
singers in the participating faith communities are invited to participate. The choir will warm-up on Thanksgiving Day at 8:45 a.m. and
then sing in the 9:30 a.m. service. Please speak with Organist-Choirmaster Bill Greene for additional information.
YOUTH TO ATTEND SYNOD EVENT
The following seventh and eighth graders are attending the Virginia Synod’s Lost & Found Youth Event at Eagle Eyrie this weekend:

Monetary offerings will be received at the service for Interfaith Outreach Association’s
Emergency Heating Assistance Program.

Our November outreach project is a canned food drive for the Rivermont Area Emergency Food Pantry. Grocery
bags, complete with an attached suggested shopping list, are available in the narthex. We are asked to please fill
and return the bags during the month of November. Monetary contributions are also encouraged. Special
envelopes are available on the narthex desk.

Thanks for the positive response from those who have returned their 2015 time, talent, and financial pledges to date.
Our gifts are tangible ways of thanking God for our many blessings. They support the Church’s mission of carrying
on Christ’s work in the world as we seek “to care actively in the name of Jesus Christ.”
We are reminded that our 2015 Time and Talent forms and financial pledges are due. Our mission and ministry
spending plan cannot be finalized until pledges are returned. Every pledge is extremely important! May we
give prayerful consideration to our response for God’s many blessings and make our 2015 commitments as soon
as possible. Anyone who has not received a 2015 packet is asked to contact the church office. Thanks to all who
make our mission and ministry possible through their generosity and sacrificial giving.

2015 ALTAR FLOWERS
The 2015 Altar Flower Calendar is now available in the narthex. Please note that no dates are reserved from previous years. The
cost of altar flowers is $77 per week for two vases. Payment for altar flowers should be made to Holy Trinity. There are no delivery
fees or sales tax. Please contact Susan Barney (907-1244 or skwbarney@gmail.com) with any altar flower questions you may have.
CANDLE TRIBUTES
All are reminded of the opportunity to dedicate the candles used in worship each week to the glory of God in memory or in honor of
loved ones or in celebration of special events (birthdays, baptismal anniversaries, wedding anniversaries, etc.). The tribute dedication
is printed in the Sunday worship bulletins along with the altar flower dedication. Included are the altar candles, the sanctuary lamp,
and candles for the Globusleuchter. The cost is $20 per week, with checks made payable to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Please
note “Candle Fund” on the memo line. The 2015 Candle Calendar is now available in the narthex. Please contact the church office
with any questions.
ADVENT WREATH MAKING
All are invited to join us in the Fellowship Hall Sunday, November 30, at 9:30 a.m., as we make Advent wreaths for our homes.
Families are asked to attend together so that older hands may assist those who are younger. Wreath-making materials will be
provided and a free will offering is requested. Those who have straw wreath forms from previous years are asked to bring them for
reuse.

ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

Our presence is extremely important as we elect five members of Church Council and adopt a Spending Plan
for 2015. Nominees for Church Council are Dawn Johnson, Barry Lobb, Susan Manion, Martha Johnson,
Mitch Overstreet, Sue Coleman, Lisa Taylor, and Karen Pollok. The order of the nominees was determined
by a random drawing. Brief biographical summaries about the nominees will be published in the December 3
issue of The Beacon.

The annual meeting will be called to order at the conclusion of an abbreviated 8:30 a.m. worship
service. After balloting for Church Council elections and voting on a 2015 Spending Plan, the meeting
will be recessed.

The meeting will be reconvened at the conclusion of the 10:30 a.m. service. After balloting for Church
Council elections and voting on a 2015 Spending Plan, the meeting will be adjourned. The ballots will
then be counted and Council nominees notified of the results that afternoon. The election results will
be published in the December 10 issue of The Beacon.
All confirmed members are eligible to vote. Please make every effort to be present.
The meeting will be held Sunday, December 14, in the event of inclement weather.
CHILDREN’S NATIVITY REHEARSALS
Rehearsals for our Children’s Nativity, which will be a part of the 5:30 p.m. Christmas Eve Service, will be held Sunday mornings,
December 7, 14, and 21, during Sunday Church School. All children are encouraged to participate.
SPECIAL CHRISTMAS EVE YOUTH VOCAL ENSEMBLE
A special youth vocal ensemble is being formed for the 5:30 p.m. Service of Holy Communion on Christmas Eve. We invite all our
youth to join in and help out in providing music for that service. Rehearsals will be held in conjunction with youth group activities on
the following dates: December 7, from 4:00 - 4:30 p.m.; December 14, from 7:00 - 7:30 p.m.; and, December 21, from 6:00 - 6:30
p.m. On Christmas Eve, we will meet at 4:45 p.m. to warm-up. Please plan to join us and help out on Christmas Eve.

blessings as we strive to meet our challenge level of giving (an extra dollar per week or fifty-two dollars per year.) We continue to meet

CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS
We will again decorate our chancel and sanctuary with poinsettias this Christmas. Poinsettias may be given in memory or honor
of individuals. The cost is $15.00 per plant. Poinsettias may be picked up after the 11:00 p.m. service on Christmas Eve.
