GETTING TO KNOW ELAINE MARTIN
If you want to know the history of Laurens
or First UMC, Elaine is the person you want to
ask. A 5th Generation Methodist, Elaine has been
a lifelong resident of Laurens and First UMC.
She Graduated from ETSU with a degree in
Library Science and began her career as a
Librarian which lasted 50 years. She has a twin
brother Ellis and she enjoys reading, knitting and
sewing. She has taught Sunday school for many
years including 4th and 5th grade for 16 years. She
is a past President of the UMW as well as District
Officer. She continues to participate in Sunday
school both as a teacher and participant. Elaine is
a cancer survivor for 8 years now.
It is a great pleasure to hear stories of our
church, especially when you ask Elaine about that
history.
