Rand Park High School
(GAUTENG DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION)
Newsletter No. 30/2014
13 November 2014
Dear Parents, Guardians & Learners
As I put pen to paper to prepare this message, our Grade 12 learners have immersed themselves into their studies
and are writing their National Senior Certificate examinations. The rest of the school has also commenced year-end
exams after months of preparation. It is hard to believe that the end of yet another academic school year is almost
upon us.
I have reflected on our learners’ development, our parent body’s involvement during the year, and the willing
contribution of the teaching and support staff, and can confidently say that Rand Park High is providing a high school
environment that is shaping young talent, building character, improving potential employability and developing future
leaders.
We are exceptionally proud of Rand Park High’s ability to offer all our learners an opportunity to do more than just
acquire knowledge. But, of course, the impact these opportunities have on our learners is entirely dependent on their
willingness to participate enthusiastically in the many activities offered annually through our academic and tailored
extra-curricular programmes.
th
Based on the Class of 2013’s Matric results, Rand Park High School currently ranks 12 amongst 806 schools in the
Gauteng Province – this is an outstanding achievement and we have worked hard to achieve this success and
establish our reputation as one of the top co-educational schools in Gauteng. I will continue to encourage our
educators to raise the bar, increase our averages, utilise technology to improve the learning process, and stretch our
learners to achieve their potential.
2015 promises to be an exciting year for our school and we look forward to partnering with our Governing Body,
parents, learners and supporters to ensure that we achieve our expected results and remain a school of choice
where our learners grow intellectually, emotionally and socially.
Best wishes for a successful and blessed New Year.
Yours sincerely

2015 SCHOOL FEES
It has been agreed by the parents of Rand Park High School at the Annual General Meeting of the School Governing
Body (SGB), held on 27 October 2014, that:
Rand Park High School will be a fee paying public school. The school fees for Rand Park High School for the year
2015 shall be:
Grade 8 and new learners: R30 600.00 per learner (this includes the new learner levy)
Grade 9 – 12
: R29 600.00 per learner
10% early settlement discount will be granted to those accounts settled by 31 January 2015.
 School fees are due and payable annually in advance at the beginning of each school year and such payment is
compulsory unless an exemption has been granted.
 However, purely in order to reduce the financial burden on parents, TEN EQUAL instalments commencing
January and ending October will be acceptable.
 Failure to pay any single instalment by the due date, will mean that the full amount outstanding becomes due
and payable immediately.
Exemption from School Fees is available to qualifying parents in terms of The South African Schools Act #84 of
1996, section 39. Exemptions are granted as stipulated in the Exemption Regulation Gazette no. 29311 dated 13
October 2006.




Parents who wish to be exempted from the payment of school fees must apply annually to the SGB.
The income of both parents, irrespective of their marital situation, is used in the calculation of exemption.
A maintenance agreement or divorce order cannot be enforced on a third party being the school.
The Exemption application form can be collected from Mrs Justine De La Rey from 15 January 2015 at the
school office between 07h00 and 13h00.
For any school fee queries, please contact Mrs Avril Stevenson.
