IMG Clerkship Program – Admission Requirements







Has completed the MCCQE I
Be a graduate from an international school or college listed in the International Medical Education Directory
Has English language proficiency: IELTS (required minimum score: 7) or TOEFL iBT (required minimum score:
100)
Has been living in Nova Scotia for at least one year calculated from the application deadline. Prospective
candidates may present an MSI card and NS Driver’s License or NS ID to confirm proof of residency
Has completed one of the following Canadian clinical assessments*:
o CAPP or
o MCCQE II or
o CAPE (Manitoba) or
o CSAT (Newfoundland) or
o CEHPEA (Ontario)
o NAC
o Clinical Assessment Alternative
If applicants have not undergone CAPP, they register their documents at www.physiciansapply.ca and receive an
Educational Credential Assessment. Contact the Medical Council of Canada for details.
Must have a passing grade in the clinical assessment.

List of all jobs/employment you have held including Canadian lists of volunteer work.
List of North American clinicians to whom have observed or supervised the candidate
Medically-related experiences. For example; Courses, Observerships, and/or Certificates.
ADMISSION PROCESS
After reviewing all applications, a small number will be invited in to participate in the Dalhousie Medical School
Interview process (MMI – Multiple Mini Interview), which will likely take place in November 2014. Please note that
there is an interview fee of $75 (CDN). Candidates who participate in the MMIs will be informed of the results early in
the New Year. Meeting minimum admission requirements and deadline dates is not a guarantee of admission or
invitation to the interviews. Interest in the IMG Clerkship Program has increased annually and far exceeds the two
positions available.
CLINICAL ASSESSMENT ALTERNATIVE
OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Exam) will not be offered in 2014, 2015 date to be announced. This is an
alternative clinical assessment for IMGs intending to apply to the IMG Clerkship Program at Dalhousie in 2016.
Please come register in person at the Global Health Office.



To be eligible you must have passed the MCCQE1 (or be planning to take the MCCQE1 before August 15
2015) and must not have taken any other clinical assessment (CAPP, MCCQE II, CAPE, CSAT, CEHPEA).
You must have become a resident of Nova Scotia before August 15, 2013 and you must currently be a
permanent resident (Landed Immigrant) or citizen of Canada.
