VENUE AND HOW TO GET THERE We recommend you to check Rejseplanen (www.rejseplanen.dk) to organize your public transport travel in Copenhagen. This website works in English, German and Danish. Rejseplanen covers bus, train, metro and s-trains. You can calculate prices and emissions for all your travels in Denmark. We recommend you downloading the Rejseplanen app on your smartphone. The 66th semi-annual IEA-ETSAP meeting and associated events will be held at the UN City, Marmorvej 51, Copenhagen Østerbro. Nordhavn S-train station and Osterport S-train station are very close. The public transport network map of Copenhagen and surroundings is attached below and available here: http://www.medinfo2013.dk/files/Byens%20netguide2013_web%5B3%5D.pdf 2|Page How to get to UN City: There are various options to get to UN City, as follows: 1. take an S-train to Nordhavn station and then walk about 8 min (650m) to UN City 2. take an S-train to Osterport station, walk to the North exit (opposite direction of the train station building), and get on Bus 26, direction "Faergeterminal Sondre Frihavn / Langelinie" until the stop "FN Byen" (about 4 bus stops, every 10min in the early mornings, currently no bus connection after 9.30h in the mornings) 3. take an S-train to Osterport station, walk to the north exit (not through the building of the train station), and rent a new smart bicyle at Osterport slofen exit from www.bycyklen.dk (you need to register upfront online, it costs DKK25 per hour) 4. take a taxi to UN City, Marmorvej 51, Copenhagen Østerbro (the most expensive option, as VAT is 25%) Using public transportation, the approximate travelling time from Copenhagen Central Station is 25 minutes while the travelling time from Copenhagen Airport is around 45 minutes. Be aware that the UN city area in Copenhagen is still under construction and sometimes there might be some delays due to construction works in the surroundings. REGISTRATION AND SECURITY CHECKS AT UN CITY In anticipation of security at the UN City, please be sure to bring your passport or Government-issued photo ID. To ensure a UN city access badge, you must have registered for the event via the IEA-ETSAP website or email-exchange with the organizers. Registration is closed now, in case you have not registered, please contact Cristian (chcp@dtu.dk), Peggy (peym@dtu.dk) or Kenneth (keka@dtu.dk). We will try our best to help you, but there might be delays. You will need to go through 2 security checks, please allow 30 minutes extra-time when you are registering the first day. In case you are arriving late, kindly let us know in advance. You will not be able to enter the UN building unaccompanied. PUBLIC COFFEE MACHINE There is a publicly accessible coffee machine available in the UN city, ground floor. Please bring Danish coins of 10 DKK for a coffee. 5. OTHER PRACTICAL INFORMATION ABOUT COPENHAGEN Telephones The international dialing code from abroad is +45. Public pay phones accept coins, credit cards or prepaid Telecards. For international calls, use DKK 5-20 coins. Telephone cards come in denominations of DKK 30, 50 and 100 and are available from kiosks and post offices. 6|Page Currency Danish Kroner 1 Danish Krone (DKK) is divided into 100 Øre. 1 USD = 5.99956 DKK (Market rate: 7-Nov-2014) 1 EUR = 7.43876 DKK (Market rate: 7-Nov- 2014) 1 GPD = 9.49638 DKK (Market rate: 7-Nov- 2014) 1 AUS = 5.15874 DKK (Market rate: 7-Nov-2014) For latest currency exchange rates: www.xe.com Coins are circulated in the following denominations: 50 Øre (copper) 1 Krone, 2 Kroner, 5 Kroner (silver, each with a hole in the centre) 10 and 20 Kroner (both brass). Bank notes are issued in denominations of: 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 Kroner. Some places accept Euros, American Dollars, Norwegian and Swedish Kroners, but please note that the exchange rate is not to your benefit. Larger banks with ATMs in many parts of Copenhagen are Danske Bank and Nordea. There is also one ATM in the UN City. Tipping Restaurant bills and taxi fares include service charges in the quoted prices. Opening Hours Business hours are usually as follows: Monday - Friday 09:00 - 16:00/16:30 Opening hours are mostly: Monday - Thursday 10:00 - 18:00 Friday 10:00 - 19:00 Saturday 10:00 - 16:00 Sunday 12:00 - 16:00 Supermarkets Many supermarket chains are around; the lower cost ones are Fakta, Netto, Aldi, and Lidl. 7Elven stores are usually around s-train stations and larger street crossings; you find basic food, drinks and can also 7|Page buy public transport tickets. Besides many small family owned KIOSK have long opening hours and can serve basic needs. Customs & VAT Danish prices include 25 % Value Added Tax (VAT). It is refundable to persons who are non-EU residents and who are travelling to a non-EU destination. Repayment of Danish VAT can only be made to persons residing outside the EU, and who are travelling to a non-EU country. The amount can only be paid out in Denmark if Denmark is the last EU destination before your home country/the final destination. Danish language Danish is the language of Denmark, which is closely related to Swedish and Norwegian. English is widely spoken. Some Danes speak German and French as well. In case your belongings are stolen, please contact Danish police (+ 45 33 14 88 88). Emergency In case of an emergency in Copenhagen, dial 112 (toll free number which will connect you to police, fire department, or hospital. Tourist Attractions There are many tourist attractions in and around Copenhagen. If you haven't been here yet, you usually would opt for "Little Mermaid", Tivoli, a harbour boat tour – and when the weather is rainy, maybe the famous modern art museum Louisiana.
