Dear Parents:
I want to begin by thanking you for your patience, understanding and support
over the past two weeks during Schalmont High School social studies teacher
Kevin Meachem’s absence.
At this time, I wanted to inform you that the Schalmont Board of Education
accepted Mr. Meachem's resignation, effective immediately, during a regularly
scheduled board meeting last night.
While this represents a significant and unexpected change for the high
school, I want to assure you that the district remains committed to
supporting students so that they may successfully complete their courses
this year.
We will be posting the vacancy this creates immediately and plan to
appoint a highly qualified teacher to take over for Mr. Meachem’s classes
by mid-year.
Matt Glannon is a long-term substitute teacher who has been covering Mr.
Meachem’s classes during his absence. Mr. Glannon received his Bachelor’s
Degree from SUNY Oswego and a Master’s Degree from St. Rose. He has
been a substitute in the Capital Region as well as a youth soccer coach for
both Bethlehem and Voorheesville in recent years. He will remain in that
capacity while we search for a permanent replacement.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Carol Pallas
Superintendent
