OUR ILL—Lee Martin remains in CCU at the Heart Hospital. He is doing as well as
can be expected. Mary Katherine Vaughan was admitted into UMC Tuesday & is in
CICU due to an irregular heartbeat. Cindy Holt successfully underwent knee replacement surgery Wednesday in Covenant Medical Center. Liz Anderson was initially scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery yesterday (Thursday) but it has been
postponed until December. Bobbie Day has been released from the Heart Hospital
& is now home. Please continue to pray for Red & Kendaleen Moore, Geoff Bissett, Leroy & Betty Jeter, Lee & Paula Martin, Dan & Bobbie Day, Henry Norman, Jimmy & Elaine Rodgers, & Hunter Hillock.
What can be done about our leaders misleading us with what
they say? What can be done about the total void of morality in our
culture, about the killing of innocent babies through abortion, and
about the insatiable desire of this country for violent and suggestive
entertainment? Yet these are the branches of evil. The real root is
that hearts are not controlled by the teachings of Jesus Christ.
You remember what Jesus said in Matthew 7:24 “Everyone who
hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise
man who built his house on the rock.” The reason our society
seems to be slipping is not dishonest politicians or the nature of our
entertainment. The real reason is too many people around us don’t
know or obey Jesus Christ. Their lives are built on the sand of human opinion. Therefore they slide and collapse with any storm.
THIS WEDNESDAY
Due to Thanksgiving holidays, we will meet for a devotional
in the Chapel on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. All morning
& evening Bible classes as well as the Wednesday night
meal have been canceled.
Gabriella Martinez would like to ask for your prayers for her son, Jimmy, who underwent double knee replacement surgery Monday in Washington State. (Also, Gabriella
is doing well & is still in Hobbs, NM, with her daughter.)
SYMPATHY—We are in sympathy with Van & PJ Webb over the passing of PJ’s Mother, Jean Moon, last Friday. The funeral service was conducted here at the church on
Tuesday followed by the burial at Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Van & Bob
officiating.
Ours is not a battle for the peripheral evils. It is a battle for
the hearts of men and women. We must begin with our own. Is
your heart firmly attached to the rock? We must then be shining
examples and ready teachers who point the hearts around them to
the one rock, Jesus Christ.
We are also in sympathy with former member Jack Stockton & his family over the
passing of his wife, Carolyn Crites Stockton, of Odessa, Monday. Services will be
tomorrow (Saturday), at 1:00 PM, at Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland.

PRAYER REQUEST—Maria Davila, Celsa Clayman, & Roy Altamirano asks for your
prayers for their cousin, Rosa Mendez, & her family over the passing of Rosa’s son,
Matthew, who was killed in a job related accident last Friday. The funeral service
was conducted Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. (Rosa is a nurse at the
Brownfield Family Physician’s office.)
We wish this were a current headline in our local newspapers,
don't we? While it is not true here, it is true in Ukraine.
Three more regions have said "Yes" to Bibles in their public
schools.
The regions of Kherson, Ternopil, and Zaporizhzhya,
Ukraine, have asked Eastern European Mission (EEM) to put
Bibles and biblical literature in all of their public schools.
Together they total 2,071 public schools, and 27 universities,
in which there are over 341,000 students.
80TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION—You are invited to help celebrate Mildred Cabe’s
“80th” birthday tomorrow (Saturday), from 3:00—5:00 PM at the FLC. (Happy birthday, Mildred!! Hope you’re having a great day.)
YOU’RE INVITED—The New Mexico Christian Children’s Home would like to invite
you to their Open House festivities this Saturday, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. All facilities will be open & lunch will be provided. The following is a schedule of their
events: 11:00 AM – Speakers & new vision for the future; 11:30 AM – Luncheon barbecue & fixins’!; 12:15 PM – Children’s Holiday Season Musical
MEN & LADIES VISITATION—The meeting for men & women’s visitation will be at
the church building on Monday at 2:00 PM down the south hallway in the Jr. High
classroom.
THURSDAY SCHOOL—There will be a Thursday School staff meeting Tuesday, at
9:30 AM.
WEDNESDAY AM BIBLE CLASSES—Just a reminder that both Wednesday AM Bible
classes will not meet this Wednesday.
Until this past Tuesday, we didn’t have anyone signed up to serve
supper for the following Wednesday night’s meal. Jose & Tasia Hernandez as well as Josh & Tess Hernandez stepped up & quickly decided to serve sub sandwiches.
We really appreciate that very much!!
When this project is completed, over 14,000 schools in which
there are over 3,000,000 children can study the Bible on a
regular basis in their schools in Russia and Ukraine.
EEM is asking Churches nationwide to join this effort by participating in The $1,000,000 Sunday on Sunday, the 30th.
Also, we are now collecting chicken broth for the New Mexico Christian Children’s
Home. Their truck is due on December 9th.
Due to next week’s Thanksgiving holiday, our
Wednesday night meal has been canceled,
however, we will resume with our meal the
following Wednesday, December 3rd.
We want to fill the schools and universities with God’s Word.
OFFICE CLOSED—The church office will be closed Thursday & Friday of next week
for the Thanksgiving holiday.
$950 is all it takes to ensure all students in an entire school
can regularly study the Bible.
They have said "Yes" to God's Word, together let's say "Yes"
to Ukraine.
COLLECTING—We continue to collect deodorant for the Arms of Hope. Their truck
is due on Tuesday, December 2nd.
90TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION—You are invited to help celebrate Jo Jones’
“90th” birthday on Saturday, November 29th, from 1:00—3:00 PM, at the South
Plains Church of Christ gymnasium in Lubbock. Cards can be sent to Jo Jones, C/O

In the Brownfield News there was a good news article concerning
R.D. Jones going on the trip to Washington, D.C. with the veterans.
We want him to give us a report some time.
Also in the Brownfield News, in the “Pride of the Cubs” column,
Kristy Kelly, a nurse at BRMC, was listing people who made a difference
in her life while a student, and she mentioned Pat Fulton. She wrote,
“In elementary school, I have to mention Pat Fulton. Even though I
was at Union when I had her, she soon moved to the Brownfield system as well and continues to make such a difference in little lives.”

Bill Crowder wrote an article entitled: “Creeping Christmas?”
I love Christmas. The celebration of the birth of Christ and the
beauty and wonder of the season make it “the most wonderful time of
the year” for me. In recent years, however, the season has been accompanied by a growing irritation. Every year “Christmas stuff” comes
out earlier and earlier—creeping all the way back to early fall.
Christmas used to be limited to December, but now we find radio
stations playing Christmas music in early November. Stores start advertising Christmas specials in October, and Christmas candy appears
in late September. If we’re not careful, this growing deluge can numb
us—even sour us to what should be a season of gratitude and awe.
When that irritation begins to rise in my spirit, I try to do one
thing: Remember. I remind myself what Christmas means, who Jesus
is, and why He came. I remember the love and grace of a forgiving
God who sent us rescue in the Person of His Son. I remember that,
ultimately, only one gift really matters—God’s “indescribable gift!” (2
Cor. 9:15). I remember that the salvation Christ came to provide is
both the gift and the Giver all wrapped up in one.
Jesus is our life all year long, and He is the greatest wonder. “O
come, let us adore Him!”
