Creativity Exercise:
How to Remember Everything You Have Ever Learned
Long-term memory has two components: retrievability and stability.
Retrievability determines how easily we can remember something
or recall information. This depends on how near the surface of our
consciousness the information is “swimming”. Stability, on the other
hand, has to do with how deeply information is anchored in our
brains. It is our ability to recognize familiar information when we
see it again. For example, you may not be able to recall your
phone number from when you were in first grade, but if you saw it
written down or heard it said aloud, you would recognize it.
The Polish Researcher Piotr Wozniak, developer of the Super
Memo learning model, found there are four key intervals that you
should ideally refresh your memory on something you want to learn.
These are: one day, ten days, thirty days, and sixty days. Practice
this model with something you really want to learn over the next
few months. “It is not what you know, it is what you
remember.” --- Jan Cox
