ANNOUNCEMENT StarClass Competition Ladies, Men, Junior A & Junior B 9th – 11th January 2015 National Ice Centre Nottingham GBR Announcement The National Ice Skating Association (NISA) in co-operation with Great Britain Short Track Speed Skating, have the honour and pleasure to announce that the Star Class for Junior A, Junior B, Mens and Ladies categories will be held on Friday 9th to Sunday 11th January 2015 at the National Ice Centre, Nottingham. The competition will be organised in accordance with the ISU Special Regulations and Technical Rules Speed Skating and Short Track Speed Skating 2014, the Star Class Memorandum 2014/2015 and the conditions included in this Announcement. Entries Entries can be made by the Club of the respective athlete or by the Member of the International Skating Union. Entries will only be accepted if a skater is entered into the correct age category that their birth date qualifies them for. When a skater enters the StarClass series they have to, as part of their entry data, announce which ISU member they are representing, this is to be in accordance with ISU eligibility rules. Skaters can only qualify for the Europa Cup Final by participating in the qualifying events in the region to which the ISU member they represent belongs. Only skaters eligible to represent the following members can qualify for the Europa Cup Final through the StarClass series: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland. (For details on eligibility rules please refer to Rule 102 and 109 of the ISU Constitution and General Regulations 2014) In the case of an unmanageable number of entries, reductions can be made by the organisers together with the Co-ordination Group. In this respect the total number of skaters in all categories per club may be limited and/or the number of Clubs may be limited. Principles like global representation, regional representation and first come, first served shall be applied. Preliminary entry The ENTRIES must contain the following information: - title of the competition; - name of the Club and the ISU Member making the entry; - number of athletes in each category; - number of coaches and team leaders. The Preliminary Entry must be submitted no later than Friday 12th December 2014 and shall be made via www.shorttrackonline.info Final entry The FINAL ENTRY specifying/confirming: - given name (first name) and surname of the competitor; - date of birth of each competitor; - data requested for seeding purposes (only the best time 500m distance, skated within the current or the preceding season will be accepted); - International Registration Numbers (UPID). The Final Entry must be submitted not later than 3rd January 2015 and shall be made via www.shorttrackonline.info All entries must be accompanied with sufficient documentation of the performances in Mass Start Competitions or Time Trial and all requirements of the ISU Regulations must be fulfilled. ALL TEAMLEADERS are very urgently requested to inform the Organisers of any changes upon departure from their home-town, at the very latest. Entry Fee An Entrance Fee of £9.00 must be paid to the Organisers for each accredited person, e.g. for every athlete and for every coach/team leader. One Coach/Team Leader per Club does not have to pay the Entrance Fee. A deposit of £10.00 per person must also be paid to the Organisers for the use of the helmet covers for their team. Conditions of Contest The Qualifying Schedule on each distance shall be based on an “All Finals System” in all categories. The All Final System is used in order to guarantee a minimum number of races to all participants. The organisers reserve the right to change the programme due to unforeseen circumstances. Qualification Skaters may be entered who have attained any one of the Qualifying Times in a Mass Start Competition. (Listed on a Members Calendar, ISU International Calendar and ISU events) Proof must be supplied by submitting time, date and venue of the Event. See rule 202 Memorandum 2014/15 StarClass Series. The programme is tentative and subject to change by the organising committee and the referee. A more detailed programme will be published on www.shorttrackonline.info in the week before the competition. As detailed above, the programme will run commencing with Mens, Ladies events followed by Junior A and then finish with Junior B age categories. Track The track is an artificial refrigerated indoor ice surface with the measures of 30x60 meters, protective padding will cover the boards. The standard track 111.12 meters to the lap with measured curves of 8.50 meters and there will be 7 markers used to establish the curve. The length of the straight is 28.85m. Besides the original track there will be 4 tracks set up to preserve good ice conditions. For all tracks one finish line will be used. The padding system is according to ISU Communication 1726. Award of Prizes Prize for the first, second and third classed in the final results for each category. Overall prizes will also be awarded at the end of the competition for each category. During award ceremonies, the skaters should be in club or National track suits. StarClass Classification Each StarClass competition is concluded with a Competition Overall Classification. On the basis of this Competition Overall Classification the participants are awarded points for the Qualifying Ranking List and the StarClass Classification. These points and all related procedures to determine the Classification are equal to the points and procedures for World Cup competitions. See the respective ISU Communication. Skaters that were entered, but did not start will not receive any points. The StarClass Classification will be calculated following the principles of the World Cup series with the addition that all results will count. After this StarClass competition (the final competition of the series) the season prizes will be awarded for this classification. Medical Assistance Doctor and paramedical personnel will be present at the competition days. An ambulance will be on standby on site in case of any emergencies. Medical Insurance It is the sole responsibility of each Member, on behalf of its participating clubs, to ensure or provide medical and accident insurance for their athletes. Proof of such shall be requested by the Organising Committee. See I.S.U. Rule 119. Liability In accordance with I.S.U. Rule 119, the Organising Committee assumes no responsibility with respect to medical, bodily or personal injury or property loss or damage sustained or caused in connection with this Competition. Anti Doping Regulations This competition will be run under the ISU Anti Doping rules in line with UK Anti Doping and WADA. Photography Please be aware that due to Child Protection Legislation in the UK, the taking of video and photography is strictly prohibited at all NISA events. An official photographer will be present at the event. NO cameras/videos will be allowed into the event. Any person found using cameras/videos (including mobile phones) will be asked to leave the arena. Please make sure all of your members are aware of this policy. Media Accreditation may be applied for. Applicants will be asked to produce a CRB certificate and Press credentials. Media Accreditation will allow photography, but only from a designated area in the arena. To apply for Media accreditation please contact Michelle Neville. A form will be available at registration for Team Leaders/Coaches to complete and sign to grant a permit for photography/video for their own personal use during the event. Advance booking is required in order to organise the catering for your teams and evening meals will be scheduled in 2 sittings: 7.00-8.00 pm and 8.00-9.00 pm ‘3 course meal for £10.00 per person (inclusive of VAT). The event will be free for spectators on this day, however, tickets will need to be applied for in advance through the National Ice Centre and will be available from the first week in December (http://www.national-ice-centre.com/) Tickets will be priced at £5.00 each, or £12.00 for a family of 4 for the Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th January 2015, and able to be purchased through the National Ice Centre. All skaters and support staff with their team will receive 2 free tickets for each day as part of their accreditation, and will be issued in the Team Leaders pack. The National Ice Centre has a strict policy of no food or drink allowed in the Arena bowl during the event, however, there will be adequate catering facilities available throughout the venue during the event. Transportation Please find below some useful information to find our venue: Road Nottingham is accessed by exiting the M1 Motorway at either J24, J25 or J26 and following signs to Nottingham City Centre. For general public car parking, the NIC have joined forces with NCP Stoney Street to offer our skaters savings on their parking. Simply get your parking ticket validated at Ticketing & Customer Services in the main foyer during the event and you’ll be charged a rate of just of £1:20 per hour up to maximum of £9.00. Rail Nottingham Train Station is a 10 minute walk from the venue. Follow signs which direct you to the Lace Market and keep your eye out for grey signs which are dotted en route to the “National Ice Centre”. For anyone travelling by air into a London airport, i.e. London Heathrow, direct trains run from London St Pancras to Nottingham train station daily. Bus Nottingham has two main bus stations, Broadmarsh and Victoria, each of which is a 10 minute walk from the centre. Again, follow the signs to the Lace Market and keep an eye out for the grey ‘National Ice Centre’ signs. Tram Nottingham’s state-of-the-art tram system passes really close to the National Ice Centre. The ‘Lace Market’ stop on Fletcher Gate is a three minute walk away. Trams run at least every 10 minutes until midnight (more frequent at peak times). Air East Midlands Airport is a 30 minute drive from the venue and Birmingham Airport approximately 1 hr by car. The Organising Committee will provide a free shuttle service for teams arriving into East Midlands or Birmingham by prior arrangement. Alternatively, a shuttle bus service now runs every half an hour from East Midlands Airport to the city centre (Skylink) at a cost of £5.
