HILLY HUNDRED WEEKEND October 21, 22
HILLY HUNDRED WEEKEND
October 21, 22, 23, 2016
Information regarding volunteering:
1.
Please read over the Volunteer Information page attached and then decide on
what position you want. If you are undecided about any position, select several
and you will be assigned where you will be needed. If you need more
information, please feel free to contact me. You must work six (6) hours and
some positions, such as Registration, require more hours.
2.
Select your meals, sleeping bag space and/or camping on the Hilly
Volunteer Application. Please select what you need so the tickets can be
put in your registration packet that you will receive when you arrive at the
Hilly.
3.
Do not specify volunteer T-shirt sizes. We will have sufficient shirts in all
sizes available. The volunteer T-shirt order (green this year) will be placed
this summer, long before the Hilly. It is impossible to order individual shirts
when many volunteers do not sign up until in September or 0ctober.
4.
Around the first of October you will receive your assignments, along with the
name(s) of your supervisors. You will also receive your Confirmation Booklet
with all information regarding the Hilly. The Hilly Hundred no longer uses
confirmation numbers which were unnecessary for volunteers anyway.
5.
Please send in your volunteer information as soon as possible. We need
approximately 450 volunteers who are assigned to about 50 different
positions. So to make my job easier, I would like to get them in a timely
manner.
6.
Send your signed Hilly Volunteer Application Form, with all required
information, and your Hilly Hundred Volunteer Information sheets to
me:

The 49th Annual Hilly Hundred
Weekend Bicycle Tour
October 21-23, 2016
Ellettsville, Indiana
Winner of Bicycling Magazine and the League of American Bicyclists
Best Biking in America Awards.
•
•
The Central Indiana Bicycling Association (CIBA) is proud to
sponsor the 49th Annual Hilly Hundred Weekend, a classic
bicycling event designed for experienced touring cyclists. If
you like a bicycling challenge that includes entertainment, the
Hilly is for you.
Camping or sleeping space is available on site.
•
•
Sleeping bag space is available inside the school.
Space is available for tent campers and RVs. No hookups
or conveniences are available for the RV campers.
The challenging terrain is a wonderful mix of
rolling country roads and breathtaking hills (literally).
•
The new Saturday route takes us closer to Spencer, IN with
a return to Stinesville.
•
Sunday's riders head out toward Morgan-Monroe State
Forest, then climb everyone's favorite bragging hill, Mt. Tabor.
Campfires, alcoholic beverages, drugs, and smoking
are not permitted anywhere on the school campus.
•
Great food and lively entertainment are included at each
of three rest stops on both Saturday and Sunday.
Weekend-long shower privileges are available to all
participants at no additional charge.
•
The ride is only part of the weekend fun.
•
Friday night features live entertainment and free refreshments
for those arriving early to pick up their rider packets.
•
Take part in the Saturday morning costume contest. Use your
imagination. Dress up in a period costume, a clown costume or
any costume of your choosing. Individual and group
competition judging takes place at the first rest stop.
•
The fun continues with the Saturday Night Variety Show
featuring Reed Steele. Much of the show highlights the people
and events of the Hilly Hundred Weekend. Costume contest and
other awards are presented at the 7:30 pm Variety Show.
•
Many of the top bicycle shops in the area offer fabulous sales
in the Hilly Hundred Vendor Tent.
•
Whether photography is one of your passions or you're a
shutterbug enjoying the Hilly Hundred, bring your camera, take
your best shots and follow the rules on the Hilly Hundred
website to enter this year's Hilly Hundred Photo Contest. Entries
are due by November 30, 2016. Winning photos will be
published in the March 2017 issue of CIBANEWS, the Hilly
Hundred Photo Contest winners' web page and at other
appropriate locations. Top prize is worth a cool $100.
Important information about the Hilly Hundred Weekend:
•
Headquarters for the weekend is Edgewood High School,
601 S. Edgewood Drive, Ellettsville, Indiana.
•
The traditional staggered start (8-10 am) and finish
are located on the school campus.
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Edgewood High School booster groups will prepare meals on
Saturday morning, Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
This three day event is held in the scenic hills of southern Indiana.
•
•
•
All riders must be able to finish the route before 4:00 pm.
The Hilly is not a race. Come for a challenging tour but
leave the racing gear and mentality at home.
You must wear a bicycle helmet to participate in the ride.
Hilly Hundred Merchandise: There's something for everyone.
To ensure you get the merchandise you want, please order
when registering. Limited quantities and sizes of merchandise
will be available for purchase at the Hilly.

•
Choose from T-shirts, cycling jerseys, cycling socks,
water bottles and great souvenirs. Check out the selections
and size charts displayed on our website.
Once again there is a unique limited edition print created
by Jeanne McLeish exclusively for the 2016 Hilly Hundred.
If you bring your own generator it must be turned off
from 10:30 pm until 6:30 am.
Bring your own toiletries and towel.

I assume full and sole responsibility for all risks, both known and unknown, inherent or otherwise, related to the CIBA events, rides, and activities. Further, I am voluntarily participating in this activity with knowledge of the risks and fully accept and assume all
risks related to or arising from CIBA events, rides, and activities.
4. Acknowledging that such risk exists, I PERSONALLY AND ON BEHALF OF MY MINOR CHILD, HEREBY RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE, AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE CIBA,
ITS OFFICERS, OFFICIALS, MEMBERS, VOLUNTEERS, AND SPONSORS, and the officers, directors, employees, representatives, agents, insurers, and successors of all the

actions, wrongful death actions, expenses, attorney fees, and liability that I, anyone on my behalf, my heirs, next of kin, or minor child might have for, or relating to,
any injury, including death, to my person or that of my minor child or property suffered or claimed to have been suffered by me which arises out of or is related in
any manner, either directly or indirectly, to my or my minor child’s participation in any CIBA event, ride, or activity or my assistance at any CIBA event, ride, or activity,
including but not limited to, any claim that the act or omission complained of was caused in whole or in part by the negligence in any form of the Releasees.
5. I further agree to INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND DEFEND in any action or proceeding Releasees against all lawsuits, losses, damages, actions, suits, proceedings,
and expenses, including attorney’s fees and costs arising from or relating in any respect to my or my minor child’s participation in any CIBA event, ride, or activity, or
my breach of this agreement, regardless of whether the act or omission complained of was caused in whole or in part by the negligence in any form of the Releasees.
CIBA Volunteers have no duty to indemnify, defend, or hold harmless the Releasees.

I have read and fully understand this Waiver and Release of Liability and Indemnity Agreement and agree to be bound by its terms. I understand that by signing this document I may be waiving certain legal rights, including the right to sue CIBA or any of the Releasees. I have read this document and sign this document freely and willingly.
