2014 Little Smarties Playschool & After School Club Opening of New Building On Monday 3rd November there was great excitement as we enjoyed our first day in our new Little Smarties Playschool & Afterschool Building. The Staff and Children were delighted with their new uniforms displaying the new logo created by our Chairperson Teresa McLoughlin funded by The Forge Family Resource Centre. During her speech Teresa McLoughlin welcomed everyone and then invited the children to help her cut the celebration cake. In the Afternoon the boys and girls at the Afterschool Club enjoyed exploring the building and getting settled in their new surroundings. Everyone at Little Smarties appreciates the community support we receive and we would like to thank you all for your good wishes and look forward to continuing to provide the very best in terms of care and opportunity for the boys and girls who attend our preschool and afterschool. Three teams took part. A massive congratulations to the under 15 girls who played a blinder and took home the cup for first place. Well done to under 18 boys who played excellent and took home 2nd place and finally well done to under 15 boys who played so well and won two of their games but were unlucky and didn't make the final. Helen Simms, Youth Club Leader commented on their achievement . ‘So proud of you all who played, to our subs, supporters and finally to Richard Kane who spent so much time training with the teams and to PJ Mc Barron who helped Richard coach the under 18's team. Such a great group of young people to take away for the day to represent our wee Pettigo & Tullyhommon area, so happy to have the pleasure of working with you all. Keep up the good work guys!’ The Latest Twitter from the Earlybirds Women's Group As we all hurtle towards the madness of Christmas, Wednesday mornings in the Youth Hall, High Street have given us Earlybirds a little sanctuary from all the mayhem. We have been crafting away to our hearts content since our trip to Derry. We've had a go at Christmas card-making and weaving felt to make a festive basket for treats. We all had issues with the double-sided sticky tape and wire, but things can't always be easy. One has to try new things, it's good for you! A big box arrived another morning and we all thought Christmas had come early, when we opened it, inside was all our very own hand-painted pottery from "Kiln Time". They had all come out great, you couldn't buy as nice in the shops! We have started making a rather trendy Christmas tree out of lovely material. This is a two week project and involves a little sewing. I know now that there are Birds that said they didn't like sewing, but have turned out to be great seamstresses! (You know who you are!) This will lead us nic ely into next mo nth, whic h I kno w ha s a lrea dy go t a pa ck ed a genda . ..
