ALLEGAN HIGH SCHOOL - Allegan Public Schools
ALLEGAN HIGH SCHOOL HOME OF THE TIGERS JANUARY 2015 From the office of Jim Mallard “Meeting all students where they are and guiding them where they need to be.” Attention parents of juniors, sophomores, and freshmen: The counselors will be starting the scheduling process right after winter break by meeting with each grade level to review graduation requirements and scheduling procedures for the 2015-16 school year. Your student will be given a course and description guide supplement to help them review the courses available for next year. Part of the scheduling process is for your student to complete their course requests online using their PowerSchool account. Students will be assigned a window of time, by grade level, to complete their requests. Students must not only select their core academic courses; but also elective and alternate courses. Alternate courses are used when an elective course is canceled, or an elective does not fit into your student’s class schedule. Please look for this information, and review your student’s course requests with them. It is important that your student selects classes that will fulfill the requirements for graduation, and classes that will also better prepare them for their post -secondary experience. Student class schedules are mailed home in August prior to school starting. Attention parents of Juniors: PSAT results (juniors) will be distributed soon. Counselors and students will spend an hour analyzing and strategizing for future college admissions test dates. After discussing results with your student, please call their counselor with any questions. Mrs. Ellis (last name A-Ha) ext. 5811, Mrs. Zeter (He-M) ext. 5524, and Mr. Ziemelis (N-Z) ext. 5523.
