CHRISTMAS HOURS AT THE RECTORY
Pastor’s Column
Fourth Sunday of Advent (B)
21 December, 2014
Last week’s Journey to Peace was certainly that.
For the host of workers and actors and helpers,
the cooks the shopkeepers and the many behind
the scenes helpers who made this event happen
with such precision; last weekend’s event was a
journey that inspired all who came- some were
moved- some to the point of tears. We journeyed
to Bethlehem to understand a little better what it
was like when Christ was born. More deeply the
Journey to Peace helped us to consider more
deeply the coming of the Word made Flesh. And
we saw this through the lens of those
parishioners who acted out the scenes that led
us to the stable. The simple message of the
event was to see that the Mystery that draws us
back to the birth of a Child in a stable centuries
ago, that same story unfolds right before our
eyes, indeed, in our own experience. The simple
message is not that Christ was born, but that
Christ IS born, here and low, the Grace that
makes each life a gift because each life is a
journey to Peace itself, the good God who gave
us His own Son that we might have life to the
full. What a wonderful gift to all of us! This
superb presentation was made possible by so
many who worked long and hard to bring this
about.
Anita MacDonald, Director of Faith
Formation spearheaded this monumental effort
with her excellent leadership. Along with her
were those who worked tirelessly to offer a truly
inspirational experience to all who made that
journey:
the
Program
Design
and
Implementation Team, the Knights of Columbus,
special mention to Valerie La Marro and Victoria
Cachaza who designed and painted the sets,
those who worked on set construction and
electrical installation, the Boy Scouts of our own
Troop 36, those who worked on costume design
and creation, our parish chefs and kitchen staff,
Tony Bagliani who made the musical recordings,
our emergency management team and all who
worked the parking lot. Those who served,
those who publicized the event, and of course,
our choirs. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK
YOU!
Msgr. Burton

2014-2015 CODE BLUE
As the temperatures drop, we are preparing for
the 2014-2015 Code Blue season in Vineland,
November 30 through March 31. This year, the
Warming Center will rotate among three
st
churches: 1st United Methodist, 1 Presbyterian,
and Church of the Resurrection/Trinity. We will
need your help to be able to respond to the
needs of the homeless in our community for
cold-weather shelter and meals. Your donations of needed items
and financial support are appreciated; your willingness to
volunteer will make this community ministry successful. Please
contact Cathy Gardner (856-332-1330) to find out where you can
fit in. Thank you!
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
St. Vincent de Paul would like to thank you for
your generosity in helping to provide food and
necessities for the less fortunate in the area
during the Thanksgiving and Christmas
Holidays.
Please remember just because the holidays are ending, our
needs at St. Vincent de Paul do not end. We are still in need of
food for our pantry; i.e. jello, spaghetti sauce, pasta, soups,
toiletries, rice, powered milk, and toothpaste. You may leave
items at the Gathering Space at St. Isidore Church or the
Vestibule at Sacred Heart Church.
If you would like any information or need help, please call
856-691-2400 (if you get voice mail, please leave a message and
someone will return your call). God Bless you for your generosity
and support to the community!
