PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
It is that time of year when my evenings are busy
with holiday concerts, musicals, and
performances. Even if you don’t have any students
in the performing arts, I highly recommend you
come to see some of our amazing students in the
Choir, Band and Drama departments. I also highly
encourage parents to attend this year’s production
of “The Nutcracker” this weekend. For those of
you who attended the Dance Concert last week, I
am sure you were put into the holiday spirt by our
Hip Hop, B Boys, JV Dance, and our Tour De Force
teams. One way we want parents, students and
staff to stay connected to RBHS is by attending
these performances and shows so I encourage
everyone who can to come and see some of the
outstanding performers we have here at RBHS.

A tradition that also gets RBHS into a festive mood
is our Holiday Door Decorating Contest where
teachers and staff are encouraged to celebrate the
season by decorating their doors all this week.
Even the office staff joins in the fun and has our
own competition. If you get a chance, come by
RBHS to see the many doors decorated for the
holidays. Decoration happens all week, and doors
will be judged by ASB on December 16.
Finally, as we close out the 2014 year, I want to
thank you all for allowing me the opportunity to
serve as the principal of Rancho Bernardo High
School. We have and will continue to foster great
relationships with our parents, staff, and
community. I want to wish everyone Happy
Holidays and New Year and I look forward to
seeing what the 2015 year brings to RBHS.
Warmest Regards,
Dave LeMaster

PTSA PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE
Dear Bronco Families,
Blessings everywhere…if we take the time to see
and hear them. Many of us did just that while
sharing food and fun at Thanksgiving with friends
and family. One of my blessings is to work with a
group of parents at RBHS who are dedicated to
ensure great programs are available to all. Every
month at our PTSA meeting, I get to hear what
each person has done and what they have seen. It
is truly a delight to be a part of a group that wants
to help others. We each do a small part to make a
big difference. It is not how much you do that
matters, it is that you do something. One of my
favorite quotes is “Never think that a small group
of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the
world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead.
This group shows character over personality.
What’s the difference? Character involves
attributes like integrity, patience, devotion,
morality, and virtue. Character is who you are
when nobody is watching and is proven over time
and in the midst of crisis. Personality involves
charm, charisma, enthusiasm, and engagement.
Personality is who you are on the surface and
shines with first impressions and image.
I look forward to our year of activities together.
Come join us at one of these activities. They are for
ALL GRADE LEVELS and students and parents can
participate. After all, your student will be in all of
the grades at some point. Connect at

One of our main functions in the PTSA is to help
instill character in our school. This month our
school will focus on the character pillar RESPECT.
Be sure to respect yourself and take some time
during the busy-ness of this season to count your
blessings and count all the things you do for
others.
Thank you…for all you do!

ASB NEWS
Juniors and seniors interested in being a facilitator
at this year’s Human Relations Conference can pick
up an application from Ms. Rogelstad beginning
December 15. Applications are due January 6 and
no late applications will be considered.
ATTENDANCE OFFICE
Due to the large volume of calls - if your student
will be leaving early from school on Friday, Dec.
19, please call the Attendance Office hotline at
485-4840 or 485-4845 and request an Off Campus
Pass. Please call two hours in advance due to the
high volume of calls. Your student can come to
the Attendance Office before school, at break or
at lunch to pick up the Off Campus Pass so they
can meet you in front of school.
If your student will not be returning to school by
January 5, please let the Attendance Office know
before you leave. If your student will miss more
than five days, please call the reception desk and
ask for an OCIS contract.
After such a strong performance by our fall
programs, it’s no surprise that our winter sports
are off to an equally impressive start. Most teams
will be in action over winter break so be sure to
check out our website www.rbhs.org for updated
schedules and additional information.
Happy Holidays to all
from Bronco Athletics!

works in conjunction with your FAFSA application
for financial aid. Seniors MUST see Mrs. Dickinson,
our Registrar, to confirm that your social security
number is on file and correct.

common application list, please let your counselors
know ASAP so they can send your supporting

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student
Aid) is a core form that EVERYONE planning on
higher education should complete. In addition to
Federal aid, this form is also used by the State of
California, Colleges (2 and 4-year) and Universities,
and vocational institutions to determine their
financial aid packages. Counselors and a financial
aid representative will be available to review and
answer parents’ questions regarding the FAFSA.
Accurate and timely completion of the FAFSA is
critical to secure and avoid delays in funding. Plan
to spend two hours at this meeting. You may want
to download and bring the FAFSA worksheet
available at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

either from the front of the RBHS website or from
the Counseling tab. Not all changes can be made.
Choosing teachers, or specific periods, cannot be
made. The counselors will do their best to honor
student requests, but space limitations and
schedule conflicts limit what can be done.

can view and print their schedules.
