WELCOME
Happy first birthday to our brochure which was
introduced this time last year. It has become increasingly
popular, in fact it is so popular we ran out of the last
edition! Thank you for reading it. So you don’t miss out
on the next one, make sure you join our growing number
of Picture House members and we will post a copy to
you at home.
Well it’s been a crazy few months but we made it
through and have completed the first phase of our
refurbishment. We hope you are enjoying the comfy
seats and fabulous sound, all arriving in time for some
great films. In fact Mr Turner has turned out to be
our biggest film of 2014 – and it was only released in
October! There are some exciting releases next year
that will give it a run for its money, as Dame Judi Dench
returns in the Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and
the hotly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey hits the
screens on Valentine’s Day. Plus the incredible story of
Jane and Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
Excitingly our very own comedy club The Laughter
Lounge has a fantastic line up this winter, so laugh
away the winter blues with Adam Buxton in his first
appearance in Uckfield this December. Then Robin Ince
and Phil Kaye will be returning early in the New Year.
As ever we have some great Arts on Screen Events with
theatre being particularly strong. This season sees the
National Theatre presenting Ralph Fiennes in George
Bernard Shaw’s Man And Superman, plus one off events
such as Maxine Peake in a female-led version of Hamlet.
In the spring we move onto the second phase of our
refurbishment when we tackle Screen 2 and the foyer.
And finally in very exciting news we have just taken
ownership of the restaurant opposite the cinema so look
out for the launch in the new year to truly complete your
night out.
