It’s cold outside; warm up by learning cooking fundamentals (and secret
recipes) from Megan Hastings of Snapdragon Bakery and Cafe! Cozy up
to the bar for tasty appetizers and beer/wine/coffee drinks as you make 2
different vegetarian soups and herbed crackers to accompany them. Please
bring your own knife, apron and soup pot to take home and share with
your loved ones! Chef hat optional.
PINWHEEL LINOLEUM BLOCK PRINTS

Explore the art of printing from linoleum. Design,
cut, ink and print your own unique design and
learn the technique of arranging prints into a pinwheel pattern. The results
are often astonishing and always beautiful. You will never buy greeting
cards again! Donna has an MA in drawing from Goddard College and
taught art at Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences for 6 years.

WEST AFRICAN DANCE

Shake yourself awake this spring! Learn dance moves from West Africa
and groove to live drumming. Carol Lutra-Johns has been teaching people
of all ages the dances of West Africa and Brazil for over 10 years and has
studied with traditional teachers from many countries. One of her greatest
joys is empowering people to find and express the rhythm within.
GLUTEN-FREE BAKING

Make and glaze 1-2 terra cotta tiles with the cuerda seca method, an ancient technique using wax resist to create intricate designs and combine
many different colors.
FRAMING SEMINAR

Learn custom framing at the studio of master framer and fine artist Brent
Houston. An essential presentation skill for any artist or collector, this

ABSTRACTING FORM: Acrylic Painting
Ages: 15-Adult

Learn the art of dis-solving from realism to abstraction.
Work with acrylics (or, by permission, in oil) focusing
on incorporating layers of pattern, collage and natural
elements with a subject rooted in realism. Emphasis on
mixing colors and matching colors from the natural world. There is a story
element to this dis-solving so collect scraps of old letters, sketches, seedpods, pressed leaves or maps that reference your story. Bring your passion,
memories, hopes and open mind to this class where contemporary and
classic techniques collide. Britt studied painting at St. Lawrence University
and in Italy at Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute of Art in Florence.

In a faraway kingdom, the green ogre Shrek finds his swamp invaded
by banished fairytale misfits, runaways who’ve been cast off by Lord
Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambition. Join Shrek, Donkey, Fiona,
Dragon, Gingy, Pinocchio, Lord Farquaad, Knights, Little Ogres, Wicked
Witch and other beloved characters as we bring this story to life onstage.

DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS

Learn one and two-point perspective, composition classics and adventures,
figure-ground relationships, positive-negative spaces, pencil shading and
tonal studies, and explore the territory of the human face. Final projects
will be displayed at a show in the Heron’s Nest gallery. Weekly homework.

SUZUKI VIOLIN LESSONS

The Suzuki approach is based on the philosophy that young children learn music just as they learn to speak their
native language—through regular listening, developmentally appropriate
instruction and frequent opportunities to play alone and with others. Gaye
has been a Suzuki teacher for almost 40 years. Students can register for 15,
