December 2014
An evening full of fun and fellowship, sprinkled with laughter and cheer was had by all at the Christmas Gala and Auction
presented by Jernigan’s Nursery & Trading Post on November 14 at the
Regency Banquet & Conference Center. With generous donations made by
many local businesses, the Chamber was able to raise funds needed through
some friendly bidding on more then 70 items, including diamond earrings, a
linen armoire, sunglass package and lots more. A special thanks to our
Auctioneer Terry Whittenton, and to all of the evenings contributors, committee
members, and especially our guests, for your help in making our big event such
a successful night!
Congratulations to Becky Walls! She won the “Taste of Dunn” raffle – winning
more than $850.00 in gift certificates and items from Dunn Area restaurants and
businesses.

“Eating takes on a whole new meaning at Steak Escape Sandwich Grill. This is an elevated sandwich
experience – where sight, sound, smell, taste, creation and belonging are all part of eating out. With an urban
industrial feel and activity that lifts the soul. Front-line grilling fills the air with a sound-scape of cooks in motion. It's
hand-sliced ingredients, it’s healthy eating, and best of all, it’s choice – to be able to create a meal just the way you
like it with notable distinctive flavors and endless combinations of ingredients, it’s a new experience each time you
visit.”
The Dunn franchise owner, Alex Abdallat, seconds all that the
above quote embodies. He became enamored with the Steak Escape
mantra as an owner of another ‘fresh sandwich’ franchise shop in
Raleigh. He then partnered with Ken Jarvis, a land broker from FuquayVarina, who convinced Alex to take a look at Dunn. Alex then began his
new journey, along with two long time employees Mike Abazid and Josh Lowrance,
who have worked with Alex for 15 years. He and Ken found the perfect location in the
East Pointe Village Shopping Center. And, in November 2013 the doors opened at the
Steak Escape Dunn.
Steak Escape is the alternative quick serve/casual restaurant that provides
a wide variety of fresh, hot, made-to-order food at a reasonable price in a friendly
environment. A great alternative to ordinary fast food. With a menu that offers
Grilled Sandwiches, Veggie Bowls, Potato Bowls, Garden Salads and the famous
Hand cut French Fries, and so much more. If you are in need of lunch for a
meeting, or just because, think of the Steak Escape, delivery is included with every
catering order.
Regular hours of operation are Monday through Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00
p.m. Stop by 1165 E. Cumberland St., #124, East Pointe Village. Or call them at
(910) 891-2526 to arrange your catering delivery. For more information and to view
the menu, visit www.steakescape.com.
The Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (CACCE) recognized the 2014
North Carolina Chamber Executive of the Year at their Annual Management Conference in Greenville,
SC on October 30, 2014. And our very own, Tammy Williams, Executive Vice President of the Dunn
Chamber, was honored as the recipient of this prestigious award.
The CACCE Chamber Executive of the Year Award recognizes long-term executives who have
excelled over a period of years in leading and innovatively building their chamber. The award is based
on the demonstration of excellence in areas of chamber leadership, organizational management,
service to the profession, community reputation/involvement, and personal attributes.
CACCE is the professional development organization dedicated to improving the educational
opportunities for chamber of commerce executives and staff members in North and South Carolina.
CACCE equips chamber of commerce professionals with leadership skills and tools to build innovative
chambers. The organization was formed in 1994 when the North and South Carolina state chamber
associations merged.
