KUWAIT CITY, Dec 22: The
circle is getting bigger in
respect of the parliament’s
negative response to the
intention of Oil Minister Dr
Ali Al-Omair to appoint
Nabila Al-Khalil as the
Director General of Public
Authority for Agricultural
Affairs and Fish Resources
(PAAAFR), which triggers
the alarm of political confrontation with the minister,
knowing that Al-Khalil had
served as the acting director
of the body, reports AlSeyassah daily.
The daily quoting reliable sources
added the minister had promised to
step back from the decision after he
was recommended to slow down on
decision, particularly after several
MPs have been negative about the
candidate.
Sources considered the thought of
appointing Al-Khalil in the topmost
position in the body, conveys a negative message would showing the
series of violations will continue.
They wondered why Al-Omair will
appoint Al-Khalil to manage the sector
under the continuing violations, stressing the Inquiry Committee initiated the
first step to deal with the violations.
Although former MP Mubarak AlDuweila drew a bleak picture of the
country’s future, he affirmed the
opposition coalition will be history in
light of the division among the blocs
that formed the alliance, reports AlRai daily.
He stressed the current situation of
the country is critical, and dialogue is
the only means of returning the situation to normal. However, “engaging in
dialogue doesn’t point to satisfaction
in the political state of affairs”, he
added.

Amir meets Albania envoy
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber
Al-Sabah received Kuwaiti Ambassador to Albania Najib
Al-Bader at Bayan Palace on Monday.
The Ambassador presented His Highness with the new
Albanian postage stamp bearing the picture of His
Highness the Amir, in appreciation of the Kuwaiti-Albanian
relations.
The stamp issue represents the strong political relations
between the two countries, said Al-Bader, noting that it is
the first time where Albania issues a stamp representing
any world leader.
The recent visit of the Albanian Prime Minister to Kuwait
resulted in further cooperation in all fields between the two
countries, said the Ambassador.
Meanwhile, he noted the projects executed by Kuwait in
Albania on state and private levels since 1991, the private
sector’s contribution to Albanian tourism and agriculture we
well as the humanitarian aid. (KUNA)
Move to boost security
MoI to upgrade the
skills of law enforcers
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 22, (KUNA): Assistant Undersecretary
of the Ministry of Interior for Learning and Education Major
General Sheikh Faisal Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said
Sunday that the Ministry is focusing on upgrading the skills
of law enforcers to achieve comprehensive security for the
society.
The Ministry has ambitious, diverse and world-class theoretical and practical training programs to harness these skills
and enhance the performance of policemen, a statement by
the MoI’s Security Media Department quoted Sheikh Faisal
as saying at the inaugural speech of a symposium, organized
by the Security Strategy Studies of the National Security
College.
He also stressed importance of expanding cooperation
with all government and non-government organizations
operative in the country to counter different kinds of crimes.
Sheikh Faisal said the symposium, themed
‘Comprehensive Security in Light of Current and Future
Challenges’, is also meant to hone skills of security commanders and to provide them with studies about the main
causes of crimes, particularly those committed by youth, and
the optimal approaches and tools to counter them.
He added that the symposium will also tackle hot issue of
striking a balance between security, law enforcement and
respect of human rights.

Amir gets appreciation letter: His Highness the Amir
Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received a letter
of appreciation, on Monday, for patronizing the recently held
conference on the role of women in charity events.
The thank-you letter was delivered by Chairman of the
International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) and
Amiri Diwan advisor Dr Abdullah Al-Maatouq, and participants in the event.
In his letter, Dr Al-Maatouq, who is also UN Secretary
General’s Representative for Humanitarian Affairs, expressed
honor at His Highness the Amir’s participation in the opening
ceremony which reflected the latter’s support for all humanitarian events and activities. (KUNA)

Iraqi PM departs Kuwait: Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider
Al-Abadi and his accompanying delegation departed the
country Sunday following a one-day visit upon an official
invitation from His Highness the Premier Sheikh Jaber AlMubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
He was seen off at Kuwait International Airport by First
Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled
Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs
Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and
Head of the Mission of Honor and advisor at the Prime
Minister’s Diwan Sheikh Dr. Salem Jaber Al-Ahmad AlSabah and a number of senior state officials. (KUNA)

Saudi King’s initiative hailed: Deputy Speaker of the
National Assembly Mubarak Al-Khurainej lauded a reconciliation initiative by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia to mend
tense relations between Qatar and Egypt.
Al-Khurainej told the press, on Monday, that initiative
reflects the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King
Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud’s keenness to deepen Arab
and Islamic solidarity under crucial regional and international circumstances.
He also praised His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAhmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s efforts in healing up rifts among
the GCC countries, adding that GCC leaders have a deep
insight to patch up any dispute that might take place among

12 breast cancer cases detected: Nearly 2077
mammogram examinations were conducted and 12 cases of
breast cancer were referred to Kuwait Cancer Control and
Treatment Center in the campaign launched since last April to
fight breast cancer, says Chairperson of the National Program
for Early Detection of Breast Cancer Dr Hana Al-Khawari,
reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Al-Khawari noted a questionnaire related to the awareness
program was conducted in cooperation with the ministry’s
Media Office at different medical centers having units for
early detection of breast cancer, as health officers performed
mammogram for women without appointment and counseled
them on ways to self-detect the disease through the distribution of brochures.
Meanwhile, the results of the questionnaire indicated that
65 percent of women who participated were between 41-50
years old, of which 78 percent are university degrees holders, and the majority of them (46 percent) were from
Hawalli.
