Class fee ($492 value) is only $50 and includes all materials thanks to underwriting by the Society of Information Managers. Scholarships available. Star-Gazing Saturday, January 24 • 7 - 10:30 pm Join Forsyth Astronomical Society for a FREE astronomy observation in our parking lot using professional-grade telescopes. Water’s Extreme Journey Members’ Preview Night Tuesday, January 27 • 4 - 7 pm Members are invited to a preview of the Water’s Extreme Journey exhibit before it opens to the public! Frozen Science Fun Day Saturday, January 31 • 1 - 4 pm Explore the FROZEN world of ice and snow. Create a snowstorm in a test tube, make instant snow, paint with ice and, from 1:30 - 3 pm, visit with Elsa & Anna! Spend Valentine’s night star-gazing at Pilot Mountain State Park! Created by world-renowned marine life artist Robert Wyland and Minotaur Mazes, Water’s Extreme Journey blends art, science and action. “Our goal is to immerse you in the subject by making you a raindrop susceptible to the whims of human activities,” Wyland says. “It’s a fun way to explore the challenges of keeping our water clean.” This fully-interactive maze experience engages visitors through play, scientific inquiry, art and action. It illuminates human impacts great and small while teaching visitors how to contribute to healthy, safe water in their community and beyond. MAIZE: Mysteries of the Ancient Grain January 10 - February 28 Explore the science behind maize and why for thousands of years it’s been one of the most significant crops to humankind — and why it continues to surprise us. This traveling exhibit was created by the Museum of the Earth and the Genetic Architecture of Maize and Teosinte Project, funded by the National Science Foundation.
