Panchayatana Yagna - The Bharatiya Temple
PANCHAYATANA YAGNA May 8, 2015 to May 10, 2015 In our Bharatiya Temple, we worship various deities including Lakshmi Narayana, Uma Maheswara, Durga, Ganesa and Venkateswara. Sri Sankaracharya developed the system of Panchayatana Worship to include all major deities worshipped as per the Sanatana Dharma tradition. The Panchayatana Worship gives prominence to worship of the five main gods/deities “Adityam Ambikam Vishnum Gananatham Maheswaram". Each of the five Deities represents one of the five elements. Lord Vishnu represents Akasa (Space), Devi represents Agni (Fire), Surya represents Vayu (Air), Shiva represents Prithvi (Earth) and Ganesha represents Aapa (Water). Performing the Panchayatana Yagna blesses the devotee with prosperity and wisdom to understand the ultimate truth. In this three day Yagna, we will worship all the main deities installed in our temple with Japa, Abisheka and Homa ceremonies. It is prescribed in our Sastras that a person leading a devout and pious life should worship their Ishta Devathas daily with a Panchayatana Puja. Since it is not practical for us to perform this Puja at our home on a daily basis or even on special occasions, The Bharatiya Temple is planning to conduct this three day Panchayatana Yagna, so that all devotees can participate in the Yagna and obtain the blessings of their Ishta Devathas. During this Panchayatana Yagna, each of the main Devathas will be worshipped with three major types of ceremonies-Japa, Homa and Abhisheka. In addition, five types of mantras will be used to worship the Devathas viz., Veda Mantra, Mula Mantra, Pouranika Mantra, Gayathri Mantra and Bija Mantra. We will also have various Sevas to the Devathas including Vadyam, Geetham and Nruthyam. We request you to make contributions in 2014 for the Yagna to avail tax deductions for 2014 Tax Year. We will fill out the sponsorship forms on your behalf.
