Junior System Administrator
Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (“TPASC”) is operated by a new corporation co-owned by the City
of Toronto and the University of Toronto. This state-of-the-art facility will play host to the 2015
Pan Am and Parapan Games. TPASC is the largest sport new-build for The Games and the
largest investment ever in Canadian amateur sport history. Pre and post Games this world-class
facility will deliver programming that serves high performance athletes, recreational and
community groups as well as fitness centre clientele. The 312,000 square-foot sports centre
includes two internationally sanctioned 10-lane 50-metre pools, a dive tank and dry-land dive
training facilities, a four-court gymnasium, an indoor running track, conditioning rooms, a high
performance testing centre, studio spaces, and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.
TPASC is currently seeking a Full-Time Junior System Administrator to join our team!
Reporting to the Manager of Technology, the Junior System Administrator will be responsible to
monitor and maintain the technological equipment in the organization. They will install and
configure computer systems, diagnose hardware and software faults, solve technical and
applications problems, and administer an Active Directory network. In addition the Junior
System Administrator will set up and operates timing and scoring systems; audio and video
equipment for games, competitions, sporting events, meetings and AGM events of various
sizes. The Junior Systems Administrator function includes direct delivery for and training staff for
events.
Key Accountabilities:



















Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by delivering and supporting
strategic plans for technology implementation;
Completes projects by coordinating resources with user departments;
Verifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented;
Assists employees and contractors to implement, operate and administer timing and
scoring, computer and telecommunications software, networks and information systems;
Assists with liaising for major sporting events and attends events as required;
Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures;
Ensures information security and control structures;
Contributes ideas for strategies, policies, and procedures by assisting with evaluating
organizational outcomes; identifying problems; and evaluating trends;
Maintains quality service by meeting establishing organizational standards;
Ensures all assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner;
Acts to ensures the working order of all technology within scope;
Maintains current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and
resources;
Maintains log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance;
Makes suggestions about purchases;
Researches current and potential resources and services;
Provides network and internet access to all staff through Cisco switches;
Provides support for networked printers and copiers
Connects and sets up hardware and software
Provides network accounts and passwords as required;




Advises staff of security breach and/or change in password or security status;
Identifies and prepares hardware for disposal;
Provides technological support for all internal and external events;
Provides user support and other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:







Strong knowledge of computers and how they operate, which includes having a broad
understanding of hardware and software, operating systems and basic computer
programming.
Strong knowledge of Cisco switches, Active Network environments and Firewalls
Familiarity with electronic equipment, Internet applications and security.
Ability to work in a team setting with strong communication skills
Experience working in game day operations, event planning, customer service and/or
promotions is an asset.
Must be able to work evenings, as well as weekends and some holidays.
Effective verbal, presentation, listening, and communications skills (both oral and written)
The successful candidate(s) will receive a competitive compensation package. The position will
start as soon as possible. Three professional references will be required and a police vulnerable
