What’s New in January WATER BILLS – were mailed Tuesday, January 6th. They were sent in postcard format, so please watch for your bill in the mail. TAX PAYMENTS: The first installment of your property tax bill is due by January 31, 2015. Taxes may be paid at the Fredonia Village Hall, 242 Fredonia Avenue, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until Noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Taxes may be mailed to the Village of Fredonia, P.O. Box 159, Fredonia, WI 53021. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you want a receipt. You may look up your property taxes on the village website. Simply go to www.village.fredonia.wi.us and click on the “Look up your tax bill” link. You can view and print this year and previous year’s tax bills and also see when your taxes were paid. Taxes may also be paid at the Port Washington State Bank – Fredonia office from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Fridays and from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Saturdays. Taxes will only be accepted inside the bank lobby. Please bring your tax bill with you. CHRISTMAS TREE DISPOSAL: The village crew will chip discarded Christmas trees each Monday in January. Please place your tree curbside before 7:00 a.m. Wreaths are disposed of by placing in your trash cart. RECYCLING DATES: Recycling for January will be January 2nd, 15th and 29th. 2015 DOG LICENSES: When mailing in your tax payment, please be sure to include a separate payment for dog licenses. The cost is $10.00. If the animal is neutered or spayed, the cost is $5.00. Information required includes dog’s name, color, breed, sex and evidence of rabies vaccination (including date). License will not be issued without proof of vaccination. A dog license is needed each year. If a dog is not licensed by April 1st, a $5.00 late fee is added. Dog licenses may only be obtained at the Fredonia Village Hall. PARKING AND SNOW REGULATIONS: No parking on village streets from 2:00 a.m. until 6:00 a.m. from December 1st to April 1st. Any vehicle ticketed for winter parking restrictions and not removed will be towed away at the owner’s expense. Snow is to be removed from sidewalks within 24 hours after a snowfall. Snow is not to be shoveled or blown into the street. Please shovel the area around the fire hydrant. When shoveling out mailboxes, be sure to shovel a car-length pathway in front of your mailbox to guarantee mail delivery. American Legion Brat Fry – featuring hamburgers and steak sandwiches, will be held on Saturday, January 24th at Mr. Fritz’s from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Catholic Order of Foresters – will be sponsoring a fish fry on Friday, February 20th from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Divine Savior School. Fredonia Lion’s Club Annual Cabin Fever Chicken Roast – will be held on Sunday, February 22nd from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. with carryout service at Fireman’s Park. VILLAGE ELECTIONS: The spring election is April 7th, 2015, with a primary on February 17th, 2015 if needed. Three village trustee positions are on the ballot as well as village president. All village residents vote at the Fredonia Government Center at 242 Fredonia Avenue. The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Absentee ballots may be obtained from the village clerk.
