ROTARY YOUTH SPEAKS
The Rotary Club of Guernsey presents the annual competition for
secondary schools in the island which provides an opportunity for
students to test their public speaking skills against their peers
from other schools. The winning team will go on to represent
Guernsey in the Rotary District Finals in the UK. Mourant
Ozannes generously sponsor the Guernsey competition for the
tenth consecutive year and also support the winning team going
forward.

featuring Youth Wind Band, Youth Training Orchestra and
Intermediate Choir.
The Youth Wind Band is conducted by James Hatton, the Youth
Training Orchestra by Michael Sullivan and the Intermediate
Choir by Rachel Wright. Their varied programme includes
extracts from ‘Peter and the Wolf’, ‘Queen in Concert’ and ‘Bridge
over Troubled Water’.

featuring Guernsey Youth Orchestra, Concert Wind Band,

Wind Band by Liz Courtney and the Youth Choir by Rachel

Rachmaninov Vocalise (featuring John Cordall - solo cello) and
extracts from ‘Porgy and Bess’.

the platform with five players making their Youth Camerata
debut in the first concert of this popular family weekend. The
programme includes Brahms Rhapsody in G minor, Poulenc’s
Sonata for Oboe, Anthoine Francisque’s Pavanne et Bransles
for Harp, Concerto for Trombone by Launy Grondahl and
Romance for Viola by Bruch. As always, the evening promises
to delight its regular supporters and inspire a generation of
young musicians - not to be missed!

BWCI Camerata Orchestra for their
pirate-themed family concert. After
last year’s sell-out concert, world
renowned Alasdair Malloy returns to
conduct and present this actionpacked musical adventure including Pirates of the Caribbean,
Over the Waves, plenty of ‘shiver me timbers’, musical surprises
and many ‘pieces of eight’ with audience participation. Book early
for a concert not to be missed; it’s worth every doubloon !
