Is the program designed for me?
Yes, because you will soon be a Registered Nurse (RN) who is seeking the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN), and
you are looking for an online program.
Am I eligible?
You may be admitted to Linfield College as a Pre RN to BSN major, prior to completing
the Associate Degree in Nursing. In order to advance to the Nursing major in the BSN, you
need to have earned the A.D.N., have a minimum 2.75 grade point average in prerequisites
and college writing courses, and passed the NCLEX-RN. Linfield College has established
RN to BSN Degree Partnerships with some community colleges. Students in partnership
A.D.N. programs are co-admitted to Linfield while attending community college.
Is the Linfield College RN to BSN Program accredited?
Yes, by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the
Oregon State Board of Nursing. Linfield College, founded in 1858, is accredited by the
NW Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU.org).
What are the prerequisites and the graduation requirements?
The prerequisites cover seven areas of knowledge, and are required before enrolling in NURS 308. They also satisfy many
of the general education requirements (the Linfield Curriculum), but six areas: Creative Studies, Ultimate Questions, Vital
Past, U.S. Pluralisms, Global Pluralisms, and the upper division non-nursing course, generally require one course of 3 semester
credits or 4 quarter credits. After completing NURS 308, you will be awarded 32 semester credits of Linfield nursing courses
through Credit for Prior Learning. Overall, 125 semester credits are required for the BSN degree at Linfield, of which at least
30 credits (24 from Nursing courses) must be earned in completing Linfield courses for a first bachelor’s degree. For a second
bachelor’s degree, the Linfield Curriculum is waived and a total of 35 credits earned in Linfield courses is required.
Can I take my entire program of study online?
All nursing courses and Linfield Curriculum courses are taught online. Each RN
to BSN student will carry out a service learning, NURS 476, that may be arranged
wherever you hold an unencumbered RN license.
When and how do I apply?
Applications are accepted year round. Recommended dates: Spring, Dec. 1;
Summer, April 1; Fall, July 1. Apply online. Send official transcripts and RN
to BSN Student Recommendation form from your nursing faculty or current
supervisor to Linfield College Adult Degree Program, 900 SE Baker St,
McMinnville, OR 97128.
How long does it take to complete the RN to BSN
program?
The nursing courses are designed with a progression plan of four consecutive semesters. Part-time and full-time enrollment
plans are available. Students with a full-time class schedule may graduate in 15 months. Most students following a part-time
class schedule graduate in 18 to 24 months. Class schedules at a slower pace are available. We recommend that students
complete the majority of the Linfield Curriculum prior to enrolling in the nursing courses.

Curriculum Plans for RN to BSN Students
Students who are admitted to the RN to BSN Program, and have completed the prerequisites and most
of the Linfield Curriculum courses may begin the nursing courses in September for fall semester, in
February for spring semester, or in June for summer term. Meet with your advisor to map out the plan

NURS 476 has been revised from a clinical-based component to a service learning experience. It is now
an immersion experience in nursing through service learning and virtual experiential learning that incorporates concepts learned throughout the RN to BSN curriculum. Students will have the opportunity
to build on previous experiences and knowledge related to leadership, management, global health, and
professional communication. This course takes place online and in the community. The service learning
activity can be completed locally or internationally through international service learning opportunities.
NOTES:
1. Prior learning credits will be 32 nursing credits awarded after the completion of NURS 308.
2. To meet BSN graduation requirements for one’s first bachelor’s degree, a total of 125 semester credits are
required, including a minimum of 30 credits from Linfield. For a second bachelor’s degree, the Linfield
Curriculum is waived and a total of 35 credits from Linfield are required. Prior Learning Credits awarded after
NURS 308 do not constitute Linfield residential credits.
3. Prerequisites completed at Linfield count as Linfield College credits.
4. NURS 476 includes a service learning component that may be arranged where you are licensed.
5. The Nursing curriculum plan may be completed at a slower pace than the plan outlined above. Contact your
advisor to discuss.

A non-refundable deposit of $200, applied to student’s account with the following
deadlines:
Fall cohort: July 1 – Spring cohort: December 1 – Summer cohort: April 1

Should NURS 308 reach capacity prior to the schedule deadline, you will have the
option to be wait listed, with your deposit, as well as transfer into the next priority
list for the following semester. Should you not submit the $200 non-refundable
deposit, your registration into NURS 308 will be processed on a rolling basis and
determined by the date of your registration until the course limit is reached. Additionally, admission to NURS 308 is contingent and prioritized based upon successful completion of the School of Nursing prerequisites and LC courses. Priority is
given to Pre RN to BSN students who have completed all of the prerequisites and
LC courses thus transitioning into NURS 308 as an RN to BSN major.

Financial Aid is available to all eligible admitted students. Tuition assistance may be available through your employer. To
receive educational loans you must be registered for at least 6 credits during each semester in which you receive financial aid. Financial Aid is generally sufficient to cover tuition, fees, and books at Linfield. To apply for financial aid, submit
an online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA - Linfield code 003198) and the Linfield Application for
Financial Aid (LAFA) from the website at www.linfield.edu/dce. Linfield financial aid counselors are available to assist
