University Women’s Polytechnic, AMU Workshop On Information Technology – Prospects & Challenges (ITPC – 2015) 14th & 15th February 2015 We are pleased to announce that the University Women’s Polytechnic, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh is going to organize a Two Day workshop on “Information Technology – Prospects & Challenges” on 14th and 15th February 2015. The Workshop would aim to bring together academic scientists, leading engineers, industry researchers and scholar students to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of Information Technology, and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. Participants: Faculty/ Students/ Professionals of Academic & Technical Institutions, Government Organizations, Research Labs, & NGOs. Organizer: University Women’s Polytechnic, AMU University Women’s Polytechnic, a premier diploma level Technical and Vocational Education institute for Women, was founded in 1966, and is under the Faculty of Engineering & Technology at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Its vision is drawn from the life and teachings of one of the well-known social reformers of his time the great Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. The vision gives the institute its specific character and sets before its administrators and staff the high ideals of life and service which inspire them to take up the mission of educating young women to be intellectually competent, morally upright, socially committed and spiritually inspired so that they are equipped to contribute positively to family, community and nation. Presently the institute is offering five diploma level courses (Electronics Engg., Computer Engg., Information Technology, Secretarial Practice and Costume Design & Garment Technology) and two advance diploma level courses (Multimedia and Interior Decoration) under the auspices of four sections of studies (Computer Engg. Section, Electronics Engg. Section, Office Assistantship & Secretarial Section and Costume Design and Dress Making Section). Vocational training in several trades is being offered under the MHRD Community Development through Polytechnics Scheme and by means of the newly established Community College by Govt. of India at AMU. Souvenir: On this occasion, a souvenir will be published by the Organizing Committee. The concept of information is associated with knowledge derived from study, experience, or instruction. Technology, on the other hand, refers to the application of knowledge to the practical aspects of human life, or to changing and manipulating the human environment. Technology includes the use of materials, tools, techniques and sources of power to make life easier or more pleasant and work more productive. Technology applied to process information is playing a vital role in most of our daily activities. There is hardly anyone who has not been affected or influenced by IT. To address these and other related issues, University Women’s Polytechnic, AMU Aligarh, is organizing a two day Workshop on Information Technology – Prospects & Challenges on 14th – 15th February 2015. Aligarh is an important commercial as well as educational center of India. Situated in western Uttar Pradesh, it is at a distance of 130 km southeast of Delhi on the Delhi-Howrah rail route and the Grand Trunk Road. The longitude & latitude of Aligarh city are 79° 40' E & 27° 30' N respectively. The Aligarh Muslim University, a premier Central University with several Faculties and maintained institutions, was established in 1920 by an act of Parliament. It draws students from all corners of the country as well as from foreign countries, especially Africa, West Asia and Southeast Asia.
