2015-2016 Early Decision 2 Application Instructions US Citizens and Permanent Residents Step 1 - Requirements due by January 15, 2015 You are strongly encouraged to use the Net Price Calculator to gain an understanding of what your family contribution and aid eligibility might be. Here is the link: https://conncoll.studentaidcalculator.com/survey.aspx • 2015-2016 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – complete online at www.fafsa.gov. (Available beginning January 1, 2015) o This form is required to determine your eligibility for federal and state grants, federal loans and federal student employment. o Our Title IV school code is 001379. o If you have not completed your 2014 income tax forms, you will be required to provide estimated income information. • 2015-2016 CSS PROFILE Application – complete online at: http://student.collegeboard.org/css-financial-aid-profile o This form is required to determine eligibility for institutional grant aid only. It is not necessary to complete this form if you are only applying for federal and state grant aid, loans and student employment. o Our CSS code is 3284 o There is a fee o If you have not completed your 2014 income tax forms, you will be required to provide estimated income information. • Noncustodial Parent’s Profile – if applicable If your parents are divorced, separated, or were never married, your noncustodial parent is required to complete the Noncustodial Parent’s PROFILE online if you are applying for institutional grant aid. Once the custodial parent has submitted the CSS PROFILE, the student will receive instructions via email from the College Board to provide to the noncustodial parent. This information is needed so that the noncustodial parent can access the Noncustodial Parent’s PROFILE application. Send to the Financial Aid Office: • • Parent 2013 federal tax return with all schedules* Parent 2013 W2 statement(s) from all employers, 2014 if available Non-custodial 2013 federal tax return with all schedules* - if applicable Page 1 of 2 • Non-custodial 2013 W2 statement(s) from all employers, 2014 if available – if applicable If applicable: o 2013 Schedule K1’s o Most recent Social Security Benefit statement, if you are currently receiving income from the Social Security Administration. Step 2 – Requirements due by April 18, 2015 – Matriculating Students Please be advised that the initial award is tentative until we have received and reviewed your 2014 tax returns as well as any other supporting documentation. This review process is called Verification. It is a lengthy process. Our staff will provide you with a list of outstanding documents that might be required. You will be notified when the Verification process has been completed and that the award has been finalized. In general the information listed below will be required as part of Verification: You are encouraged to provide your consent to allow the IRS to populate the applicable income fields on the FAFSA with data from your 2014 federal tax return. If you choose not to participate in this process, you (if required to file) and your parents might be required to obtain a tax transcript from the IRS and send a signed copy to our office once you decide to matriculate at Connecticut College. Instructions on how to use the FAFSA Data Retrieval process will be posted to our web site in the Spring. • College Board’s Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) o You will receive an email from the College Board in February about this process. This step is required even if you have given permission to the IRS to populate the FAFSA, or you have chosen to submit a tax transcript to our office.
