The Mathematics Training and Talent Search (MTTS)
programme is one of the most popular and significant
summer training programmes in India running since
1993 and funded by National Board for Higher
Mathematics Govt of India. Applications are accepted
from 01 January 2015 to 21 February 2015 for MTTS2015 to be held at the following places.
* S S N College of Engineering Chennai, Tamil Nadu
(May 18-June 13, 2015)
* Shive Nadar University Noida, UP (June 01- June
27,2015)
* Goa University Panjim, Goa (May 11-June 06, 2015)
Eligibility for participating in different levels
* Level O Second year undergraduate students with
Mathematics as one of their subjects
* Level 1 Final year undergraduate students with
Mathematics as one of their subjects
* Level 2 First year postgraduate students with
Mathematics as one of their subjects or participants of
the previous year Level 2 programme.
Each level 1 & 2 has lectures in the four basic streams
of Mathematics Algebra, Analysis, Linear Algebra and
Topology, whereas students of level O are offered
courses in Basic Real Analysts Linear Algebra
Geometry, Probability, Combinatories and Elementary
Number Theory.
Also College/University teachers who are interested in
personally observing the methodologies of MTTS may
apply to the director of the programme. Those who are
selected may visit one of the camps nearer to them for
a period of at least one week.

GOVERNMENT OF JAMMU AND KASHMIR
Batting for giving respectability to the skills programme, HRD
Minister Smriti Irani today said the initiative can become successful only when a labourer receives dignity of work.
The minister, a TV actress-turned-politician, said she had no
inhibition washing dishes at a hotel in Mumbai 15 years back when
she had set foot in the city to realise her dreams.
"As a minister, I feel proud of the fact that 15 years back, I
washed utensils in a hotel in Mumbai. I have no inhibitions about
this because this country is all about aspirations.
"Providing choices to citizens should be our goal," Irani said at
a state education ministers' conference here.
At the meet, she highlighted the benefits which the skilling programme will bring to this country and how it would help the government fulfil its objectives in the 'Make in India' campaign. Also,
the credit framework of the programme was discussed with the
education ministers.
"We have to ensure dignity of labour. A labourer earns dignity
when society gives respect to his profession. This credit framework establishes that if you want to become a plumber, carpenter
or mechanic, there is no shame in it," she said. (PTI)
