OFFICE OF HOUSING AND RESIDENCE LIFE RESIDENT ASSISTANT APPLICATION 2015-2016 ACADEMIC YEAR Dear Resident Assistant Applicant, Thank you for your interest in the Office of Housing and Residence Life as a Resident Assistant (RA). We are excited that you would like to join our team and take on this rewarding leadership opportunity. This packet includes everything that you will need to complete your application portfolio. Please review all of the materials thoroughly as you prepare. In addition, please include a resume with application. Enclosed, you will find the following: RA Selection Process Details The RA Application Written Response Questions; to be typed and attached to the finished application Two separate Recommendation Forms ; to be completed by 2 different references Resident Assistants, in addition to their free room and stipend while in the position, are awarded the opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills. It is the development of these skills that will help students stand out in their chosen field after graduation. This process is an additional opportunity for you to develop valuable skills that will assist you in your life and career choices after your time at Indiana University South Bend. If you would like to apply for the Resident Assistant position, please be aware that all materials are due to the Office of Housing and Residence Life, Community Building front desk by Friday, February 13, 2015 no later than 5pm. You are always welcome to turn in your application earlier. Please note that all reference forms are due no later than Friday, February 27, 2015 by 5pm. Sign up for individual interviews will be available at the community building front desk beginning on Monday, January 27th, 2015. Some of the dates are suggested to help you with the planning process throughout the academic year. Please be advised that any dates are subject to change. It is your responsibility to make note of these changes after hearing from a professional staff member from the Office of Housing and Residence Life at Indiana University South Bend. January 2015 Tuesday, January 20 – RA Applications Available at Community Center Front Desk and Housing and Residence Life website (Student Leadership and Employment Opportunities) Tuesday, January 20 (5pm-Fireside), Wednesday January 21(8pm-Community Building), January 22(12:30pm-Fireside) – RA Information Sessions Tuesday, January 27 – Sign up begins for RA individual interviews. Candidates can sign up for a date and time at the community building front desk. Applicants can sign up for interviews through February 17, 2015 Wednesday, January 28 – Resume Writing 101 from 7pm-8pm in the Community Building February 2015 Tuesday, February 3 – How to Ace Your Interview from 6pm-7pm in the Community Building Friday, February 13 – RA Applications Due to the Office of Housing and Residence Life (completed application can be turned in at the Community Building Front Desk) Monday, February 16 – Friday, February 20 – RA Individual Interview Week Saturday, February 21 – RA Group Interview Day 9am-3pm, tentatively in the Grill (New RA Applicants only) Monday, February 23 – Thursday, February 26 – RA Individual Interview Week March 2015 Tuesday, March 3 – RA Decision Letters available for pick up at Community Building front desk (beginning at 9 am) Friday, March 6 – Signed Acceptance & Alternate Letters due to Housing and Residence Life by 5 pm April 2015 Monday, April 13 – Meet and Greet 2015-2016 RA staff (8:30pm.
