5th International Conference on Functional
Materials & Devices 2015 (ICFMD - 2015)
4 – 6 August 2015
Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The Centre for Ionics at University of Malaya (CIUM) was
founded in 2007 by Prof. Dr. Abdul Kariem bin Mohd Arof to
promote research activities on ionics and related fields. Since
then CIUM has emerged as one of the leading research centres
in University of Malaya and strives to become a centre of
excellence in ionics research in the Asian region. To date the
CIUM has published more than 200 ISI-cited journal and
contributed to the human resource development by producing 29
Ph.D and 31 M.Sc. holders. Currently the activities of CIUM are
progressing well with 20 Ph.D. and 14 M.Sc. students enrolled in
the centre. In addition to its research activities, CIUM has
successfully organized 5 international conferences and 6 national
workshops so far. Now CIUM takes pride in announcing the
ICFMD 2015, the 5th conference in series of biennial conferences
started in 2005.

are the Sultan Ismail International Airport, Johor Causeway, Second Link and the
Johor Bahru International Ferry Terminal. Johor’s vast landscape is characterised by
plantations of pineapple, rubber, coconut and oil palm on the fringes of which also
