IxVeriWave BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
DATA SHEET IxVeriWave BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Testing The worldwide movement toward BYOD – Bring Your Own Device—provides obvious gains in productivity, employee flexibility, user satisfaction, and cost savings, but the wireless LANs (WLANs) tasked with carrying the traffic are struggling to keep up. And while governance, compliance, security, and mobile device management have received plenty of attention, the ability of Wi-Fi networks to support BYOD has not. BYOD taxes Wi-Fi networks with high scale and unpredictable application requirements. The WLAN infrastructure, both access points (APs) and controllers, must be validated to support any device or application, anywhere, and at any time. Highlights High-scale controller load testing with a single test involving tens of thousands of clients and hundreds of APs Real-world deployment tests scale to overload levels on controllers, APs, and clients Extended duration tests validate stability and robustness Up to 500 fully independent, stateful 802.11ac clients per port Precise measurement of critical performance metrics at data rates reaching up to maximum theoretical limits Simplified workflow for multiapplication testing Extensive library of predefined applications flows to simulate end-user interactions and devices Comprehensive real-time analysis of per-flow statistics IxVeriWave’s BYOD offering can help validate at high scale addressing: Device diversity Device roaming Application experience DPI operation Policy server operation Mixed environment with older Wi-Fi devices Faced with the complexities of today’s Wi-Fi environments, manufacturers are enhancing the ability of the WLAN infrastructure to more closely monitor and control user and application behavior. For example, the addition of deep packet inspection, or DPI capabilities, to key components of the WLAN infrastructure. The Ixia BYOD test solution introduces critical test capabilities including device fingerprinting enabling more precise, realistic testing. IxVeriWave device fingerprinting allows users to identify unique devices and operation for specific devices such as Samsung Galaxy Tablets, Apple iPhones, Androids, and the like. 26601 Agoura Road | Calabasas, CA 91302 USA Document No.: 915- 6034-01 Rev A | Tel + 1-818-871-1800 | | www.ixiacom.com January 2015 - Page 1 DATA SHEET In delivering these new capabilities, the BYOD solution leverages multiple distinct capabilities of the IxVeriWave solution: WBW3604 802.11ac 4-port SISO WaveBlade for maximum scale and performance. WBW3601/3602 802.11ac 1/2-port MIMO WaveBlade for full compatibility with the entire suite of IxVeriWave Testing The BYOD Web Application featuring two new GUIs that allow easy test setup and monitoring for AP and controller testing. Ixia’s AppLibrary providing an extensive library of real application traffic flows for services such as Facebook, Gmail, BitTorrent, etc. AppLibrary speeds testing with a simplified workflow and framework for emulating realistic traffic mixes using a pre-defined library of application flows. Continually updated by protocol experts, AppLibrary uses Ixia’s BreakingPoint Application Threat Intelligence (ATI) technology to provide an extensive library of pre-defined application flows that simulate end-user interactions and devices. BYOD testing combines IxVeriWave protocol emulation and stateless traffic generation with the most current real-world stateful application simulations. Key Features High-scale controller load testing with a single test involving tens of thousands of clients and hundreds of APs Real-world deployment tests scale to overload levels on controllers, APs, and clients Extended duration tests validate stability and robustness Up to 500 fully independent, stateful 802.11ac clients per port enable precise measurement of critical performance metrics at data rates reaching up to maximum theoretical limits Simplified workflow for multi-application testing Extensive library of pre-defined applications flows to simulate end-user interactions and devices Comprehensive real-time analysis of per-flow statistics IxVeriWave Automation Test Appliance (ATA) software provides fully stateful, intelligent IPv4, IPv6 clients with independent MAC, L3, traffic, and mobility functions. Advanced capability allows AP choice, and reconnect/traffic restart after disconnects. Page 3 DATA SHEET The BYOD Web App Monitor lets users monitor a test session and provide a detailed breakdown of application and device performance as a whole and on specific WLAN networks. ATA Testing The ATA allows extensive capacity and media QoE testing. The BYOD offering extends those tests with realistic clients and application traffic. Here is an outline of ATA test scenarios.
