A Few Local Statistics
on Poverty
St. Mary’s Catholic School Bird Island:
Did
you know $5 could give you the chance to win a 2015 Ford
Escape or $25,000 cash AND help raise money for your
local Catholic school? St. Mary’s Catholic School in Bird
Island is participating in the 2015 Catholic Schools Raffle
sponsored by Catholic United Financial. Catholic United
covers the cost of the raffle materials so the school gets to
keep every penny of every ticket they sell. Tickets are
available at the Church of St. Mary, Willmar through
Sunday, March 8. Call the parish office at 235-0118.
StM Quilters:
January 28!
There will be no quilting on Wednesday,
The median household income in Kandiyohi County, for
the years 2009-2013 was $50,149, while in the state of
Minnesota as a whole it was $59,836.
• The percentage of persons at or below the poverty level
in our county was 13.6%, while in the rest of the state it
was 11.5%.
• The weighted average poverty threshold for a family of
4 in 2013 was $23,834.00 per year.
So this means about 5,800 people in our county earn less
than 24K per year. It’s something to keep in mind as we
count our blessings throughout 2015.
