CONVERSION
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 7: 29-31
Believing that the return of the Lord was imminent, Paul counsels an
attitude of detachment from the things of this world.
Gospel Acclamation:
Alleluia, Alleluia!
The kingdom of God is near:
believe the Good News.
Alleluia!
Gospel: Mark 1: 14-20
Jesus begins to preach and calls his first disciples.
Reflection
Jesus began his preaching with a call to repentance. We begin
each Mass with a similar call: we are asked to call to mind our sins
and to repent of them.

6.30am Morning Mass
The 6.30am Morning Mass at St Agatha’s will resume
on Tuesday 27th January, 2015.
Reflection
To answer the call to repentance one must feel
dissatisfaction with oneself, and have a longing for
something better. There must be a sense that
something is wrong, or at least that something is
missing. The conversion experience begins with the
realisation that we are not what we could and should
be. This realisation is the first stage of a process, the
first step of a journey.
To take on board the call to repentance demands
openness, honesty, humility, and above all courage –
the courage to put an end to self-deception, and
confront a painful reality. The courage to admit one’s
guilt, ask for forgiveness, and resolve to change.
SYNOD on the Family
Questionnaire
Pope Francis and members of the Synod on the family
invite you to offer your opinions and feedback on the
questionnaire which is available at the following site:

Official Prayer to the Holy Family for the Synod
Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
in you we contemplate
The splendour of true love,
to you we turn with trust.
Holy Family of Nazareth,
grant that our families too
may be places of communion and prayer,
authentic schools of the Gospel
and small domestic Churches.
Holy Family of Nazareth,
may families never again
experience violence, rejection and division:
may all who have been hurt or scandalized
find ready comfort and healing.
Holy Family of Nazareth,
may the approaching Sunod of Bishops
make us once more mindful
of the sacredness and inviolability of the family,
and its beauty in God’s plan.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph
graciously hear our prayer.
Amen.

School of Discipleship to commence on 3 and 4 Feb
2015
After a successful retreat last August, Aneel Aranha
will be back in Sydney as part of his Hope Tour and
will launch the School of Discipleship on Tuesday, 3
February and Wednesday, 4 February from 7 pm in
our parish.
What is the school of Discipleship ?
The Holy Spirit Interactive School of Discipleship is a
program intended to help people on the journey of
discipleship that all Christians are called to travel. The
Program covers four subjects that are fundamental to
the faith—Repentance, Forgiveness, Surrender and
Prayer—before culminating in an invitation to
become (or grow as) a disciple of Christ through the
School of Discipleship. Students in the School are
taught about the Catholic faith, how to live it and
how to share it with others through a variety of
subjects ranging from faith issues and contemplative
prayer to scripture and apologetics.
How long does the school run for ?
It is a year long program consisting of 8 modules (5
sessions per module). The duration of each meeting
is approximately three hours and the main body of
the meeting consists of a video presentation followed
by a time of group sharing.
