Newsletter 30.1.2015 - Sticklepath Community School
W/E 30th January 2015
Welcome Changes for 2015
Building work around Woodville and the surrounding area continues at a pace and more families are
moving into their new Sticklepath homes. This, combined with our growing positive reputation in
Barnstaple, have increased the number of enquiries for places in the school. In consultation with the
Local Authority our intake in September 2015 has been increased from 50 Reception children to 60
meaning we will have two complete Foundation classes. From September we are also going to have two
Year 1 and two Year 2 classes, so for the first time our Key Stage 1 children will not be in mixed year
groups. The Education Authority has agreed to provide two new classrooms that will be ready for use in
September 2016. Until then the school will ‘re-jig’ some of its current space (staff and ICT rooms) to allow
for the extra classroom needed in September 2015. We will also be looking to employ a new Key Stage 1
teacher from September this year. The forecast is for the number of children in the Sticklepath
catchment area to continue to increase in the future. The next phase for the school will be to roll out a
two class intake for each year group across Key Stage 2. We will keep you informed during this exciting
phase of Sticklepath Community School’s development.

Netball Club
The last netball club will be next
Wednesday 28th January.
Hopefully it will start again
next Autumn.
After discussions with Mark (the coach)
we have decided to postpone the
football club until Wednesdays after the
half term to give the pitch a chance to
settle down. It will be lighter and
hopefully drier and warmer! Sorry
about this but delaying the club will
mean that they will get a good run of
proper football. If it does turn out to be
wet the netball club will have finished so
the hard court can also be used. Year
5/6 will follow after the Easter holidays.
T-Shirts
Thank you to those of you that have
ordered the new PE t-shirts. They
should have been sent home via
classes this week. Please can you
make sure that the child's name is on
the label to avoid lots of lost property!
If anyone else would like to purchase
any there are a few spares in each size.
