ENEWS CrossRoads UMC 9315 E. Shelby Dr. Collierville, TN 38017 901-737-3776 Pastor: Rev. Birgitte T. French Join us in the Fellowship Hall for coffee and donuts before and after Sunday School. February 4, 2015 SUNDAY SCHOOL - 9:00 A.M. ******WORSHIP TIME - 10:15 A.M. Dear CrossRoads, THIS SATURDAYYYYYYYY! Making End of Life Decisions workshop, 9:30 - 1 pm. Have you let the church office know you are coming? Call 901-737-3776 to reserve your seat and lunch. And THIS SATURDAYYYYYYYY if you are not in the workshop, please come support our Cub Scouts and their Pinewood Derby family fun day. 9– 12 PM. P. O. P. Do you remember what it stands for? It stands for Power of Prayer. And if there is anyone who knows the P. O. P. it's the Nurture Team of our church, and we are all invited to join them for a special time of prayer. Every Sunday at 8:45 am, members from the Nurture Team meet in the sanctuary to pray over each pew and each choir chair. We say a simple prayer asking God to bless the persons sitting in the pew or chair, that God will fill them with the Holy Spirit for the transformation of the world. After we have prayed over each pew and chair, those who are leading worship are invited to kneel at the altar to be prayed over. If you are an "Early Bird" come join us in the sanctuary for a special time of prayer. Another way you will experience being lifted up in prayer from the Nurture team is through the prayer letters. Every week, 10 families from our church will be lifted up in prayers. You will receive a prayer letter to let you know the week we will be praying for you and your family members. If you have anything in particular we need to lift up, please let us know. All prayer requests will be kept strictly confidential. Not only do we pray for our worship service and those who are leading it, our families and the prayer requests we receive on Sunday's, but we are also praying for CrossRoads United Methodist Church. Reality is that we need to stop being consumers and become active disciples. We need to get outside the walls and let our community know that CrossRoads is a place where they can experience a warm and friendly family fellowship and experience God’s love. We need to invite people to come join us. It's as simple as that. But we don't just want them to join another group or club. We want them to come and experience God's love through the activities we offer. So I invite you to pray every day for those who are responsible for planning our activities and how you can support everything that goes on in the life of our church. A healthy family is a family that loves each other, takes care of each other, supports each other and yes!, a family that prays together - is a family that stays together. P. O. P. Last but not least, THIS SUNDAYYYYYY is Scout Sunday and our Cub Scouts will be with us in worship. Come support this special ministry of our church and let the Scout families know that we care and love them. Have a wonderful blessed week, God's Peace & Grace, Pastor Bee ________________________________________________________________________ There are lots of things on the horizon for the youth ministry at CrossRoads! This Sunday, we'll be attending the district event at St.Paul's in Lakeland. We'll be joining with other churches for a night of fun and fellowship. On February 15, we are excited for our Valentine's Luncheon that is happening after worship! This is our launching point as the youth begin to fund raise for our trip to Youth 2015 this summer. There will be yummy food as well as some awesome entertainment! Becky Burns will be hosting the "Not-So-Newlywed" game featuring some of our very own CrossRoads couples! It's sure to provide lots of laughter! We will also be launching another fundraiser that day, but you'll have to wait to hear more! Tickets for the luncheon are $10 per person, with a maximum of $20 per family. Youth will be selling tickets outside the sanctuary before and after worship on Sunday, February 8th, or you can call the church office at 901-737-3776 to make your reservation. Jayna D. Leitze Director of Youth Ministry The Enews is uploaded each week to our website: www.crossroadsumc.com There is a wonderful choral concert taking place on March 8th at 7:00 PM that we are all invited to attend. The University of Tennessee Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Kevin Ford, will present a concert at Collierville United Methodist Church on the Square that Sunday evening. Their Chamber Singers are the most select ensemble out of the five choruses at UTC and they are the main touring group. The music that evening will include Gabrielle Faure’s Requiem, 16th century composer - Thomas Tallis’ Lamentations of Jeremiah part one, and works by contemporary British jazz composer - Will Todd (that were written within the past year). Admission is free but a collection will be taken to help with the transportation costs. Feel free to mark this on your calendar, as it promises to be a great night of choral singing! Jon Steadman Director, Music Ministry With grateful appreciation the United Methodist Neighborhood Centers acknowledge your contribution of $200.00. CrossRoads’ Cub Scout Pack 37 will be having their Pinewood Derby on: Saturday , February 7th Location: CrossRoads UMC gym Time: 9am—12pm. Bill and I want to thank our CrossRoads family for all the prayers and love. I hope to be back in church soon. I especially want to thank Louise Downing and Ann Krieger for bringing me a beautiful prayer shawl this past week. Charlotte Erneste The CrossRoads grief support group will begin meeting at the church from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on the third Monday of every month. The first meeting will be on March 16 in the Prayer Room. This will be a time of sharing and discussing the many painful and confusing issues surrounding the loss of a loved one.
