They laid the sick in the market places, and begged
Him that they might touch even the fringe of His
cloak; and all who touched it were healed.
Mark 6:56
Have you ever considered how you can
share in Jesus’ healing ministry? In almost
all the stories of Jesus healing people, there
is the element of touch. Though we might
not have miraculous healing powers,
through the gift of touch, we have some
power to help make people whole. We give
hugs when people are grieving to let them
know they are not alone. We give a pat on
the back to let people know we are with
them and support them. Physical therapists
massage sore muscles and loosen them up,
enabling us to continue to play a game. We
give a “high five” as a sign of affirmation
or as a gesture of congratulation.
Let us pray:
Holy Spirit, empower me to share in Jesus’ healing
ministry. Help me to be aware of when the gift of
touch can bring healing into another person’s life.
Let me never misuse this great gift. Amen
