The course is designed to change or improve physician and technologist performance in areas of non-invasive testing. Faculty from a multidisciplinary team of vascular, endovascular and neurovascular specialists will explore optimal current practices, provide cutting edge information, including future trends that will lead to enhanced patient care and improved diagnosis for patients with vascular disease. Hoag Vascular Lab at Hoag Heart & Vascular Institute is an accredited facility by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Vascular Testing. Credit Designation Accreditation The Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is accredited by the Institute for the Medical Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) to provide continuing medial education for physicians. Credit Designation Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian designate this live educational activity for the maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Program is approved for 6.0 credits. This product [service] is not affiliated with or endorsed by ARDMS®. Educational Objectives Completion of the course should result in the attendee being able to: •Understand the indications using TCD for PFO evaluation with saline micro bubble injections while addressing the sensitivity to assess patients with suspected right to left cardiac or pulmonary shunts and compare TEE and TCD approaches using intravenous injections of agitated saline. •Recognize manifestations of common cardiac disorders on carotid and arterial Doppler waveforms and recognize manifestations of right sided heart failure on venous Doppler waveforms. •Understand early recognition of lymphedema and discuss early planned comprehensive management leading to better patient care, improved patient outcome and lower medical costs. Learn how to utilize the vascular lab in the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with lymphedema. •Demonstrate how vascular lab guidance can facilitate pedal artery access for lower extremity intervention. •Educate on statutory and case law that may implicate practice of vascular technicians and other health care providers. Provide analysis of real world scenarios to illustrate application of law in various clinical settings. •List current limitations of ABI in diagnosing limb ischemia and understand the limitations of TcPO2. Outline the best approach for perfusion assessment in critical limb ischemia. •Recognize signs and symptoms of fibromuscular dysplasia and recognize ultrasound manifestations of renal FMD and carotid FMD. Understand current data from the United States Registry for FMD and how they have added new insights into this disease. •Discuss the diagnosis of intracranial vascular events including post-operative care and guidance for clinical management. •Understand vascular ultrasound technique for vascular access for femoral and carotid stenting. Enhance understanding of ultrasound guidance for aneurysm closure.
