Go Red for Heart Month Ridgecrest News By Tori Couch Greystone is committed to healthy, worthy and impactful causes. We are proud to support the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women initiative and National Heart Month. This February, Greystone kicks of the Go Red Survivor Gallery, a traveling gallery of heart issue survivors featuring Greystone's own associates. Traveling through the Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg area, the gallery showcases women who have dealt with heart attacks, arrhythmia (dangerously rapid heart rate), and battled through heart conditions from birth. Many women may be unaware of potential heart attack signs which differ greatly from men. Often misdiagnosed, women's symptoms include: Chest discomfort or upper body pain in the back, shoulders, arms, stomach, jaw, neck or throat Lightheadedness or dizziness Nausea or vomiting Inability to sleep or unusual fatigue Shortness of breath or trouble breathing February, 2015 As the 2015 Go Red Tampa Bay Chair, Connie Bessler, CEO of Greystone Healthcare Management, is raising awareness and support for women's heart health. "Through education we can highlight the different ways heart concerns can manifest themselves and encourage better care and safety. A number one killer of women, we must be constantly vigilant against such a serious – and often overlooked – health concern." Support Heart Health month by: Wearing red on Go Red Day, February 6th. Many of you who have been customers with us know that Ridgecrest has been different sizes over the past 5 years. When I came to the facility 6 years ago, the facility had 160 beds. Then a few years later we were 145 beds. Recently the past year we were 130 beds. Now, because of the demand in the market for more beds at Ridgecrest we will be adding an additional 20 beds in the middle of January 2015. What this will mean is that some of the private rooms will become semi private. Adding the additional beds will not in any way take away from the standard of care that we are known for in the community. Most of these additional beds will be located in the Skilled area’s of the facility. Very few will be in the Long Term Care area. Thank you for your patience in allowing us to grow. As it cooled in its heart-shaped pan, she dreamt of the day she’d wed her match. “What a lucky spouse I have,” she thought as she continued baking treats; 5 heart-shaped cookie cutters, icing, and 5 pie tins later, her surprise was complete. At 4 p.m., she used the bottle opener on the last of 3 Dr. Peppers, and then dinner prep began As Mary sang sweet nothings in the kitchen, anticipating the arrival of her kind, handsome man. Starting with hors d’oeuvres, 4 plates were filled with mango, cheese, crackers, and a knife, 4 tins of mints, 4 chocolate bars, and 8 bonbons wrapped in gold and purple foil so tight. Onto the entrée, the not-so-newlywed cooked 4 potatoes, a ham, and 10 Brussels sprouts Seasoned with red wine vinegar, Rosemary leaves, and black pepper sprinkled about. A white tapered candle was lit for ambiance after 2 boxes of matches were finally found. Then a cassette tape of the couple’s favorite music was played—oh, how sweet the sound! Just like clockwork, Mary’s dapper groom arrived back home that eve at 6:23, The exact time 40 years ago when he had said the words, “To love and to hold I marry thee.” Mary greeted him with a hug and a kiss as he graced her with a dozen roses so red, And in unison they exclaimed, “I love you even more than the day we were wed!” Teresa Bullard, Environmental Services Have you ever had one of those Mondays where you come home from work, sit down to relax, and see the remnants of a long weekend with your children or grandchildren, then think to yourself, “Wow, I really need to clean this place up?” You’re too tired, so you decide that you will just have to do it later. Suddenly, the phone rings and that’s when you remember it’s your turn to have the neighborhood watch meeting at your house and they will be there in twenty minutes! You spring from the couch to start stuffing clothes and shoes into any nook and cranny you can find, toss a blanket over an unmade bed to make it look more orderly, and then shove toys underneath it. Please understand this not the standard of which I clean my house, it was, however, just one of those days. I learned two things that day, which are: never preheat your oven until you remove any dishes that may be in there, and also, all I need to do next Christmas is slide my tree out of the closet and plug it in. Here at Ridgecrest my staff and I work hard everyday to make sure that our facility is cleaned and organized in every way possible for you and your family. Unlike the Lego that was on There’s no time to wash the dishes, so you the floor, we will not step on your feeling or put turn the oven into a temporary storage place for you behind a closed door. We will CARE for you all your dirty cups and plates. You’re ready to in attending all your needs. We will be welcome your guests into your clean, organized ACCOUNTABLE for making sure that your stay home when you walk back into the living room here is a happy and pleasant one. We will and realize you never took your Christmas tree RESPECT you, your family and beliefs and we will down! Acting quickly, you grab a king size sheet, strive for EXCELLENCE in making every day better wrap the tree up in it, and cram it into the closet then the one before. Because here at Ridgecrest by the front door. Now you’re ready. There’s the we care about you. much anticipated knock on the door, but as you eagerly run to open it – OUCH! -- You step on that one tiny Lego that you somehow missed. The pain shoots through you as you’re jumping around on one foot while holding the other, shouting things only a sailor would say; however, you don’t have time to pick it up or even kick it behind a door. Your guests are waiting. You continue to the door with pain in your foot, but a smile on your face, and welcome them inside. The meeting went well and you had several compliments on how nice your home looks. Watching your last guest leave down the 6 walkway, you think how happy you are that you live in Florida where your guests didn’t have to put their coats into the front closet where the tree was hiding. 3 What’s Cooking?
