stand shoulder to shoulder & reinvigorate our fraternal bond by becoming
advocates on behalf of the Moose.
NOMINATIONS FOR NEW OFFICEERS
If you are interested in running for a LOOM or WOTM officer there will be nomination forms available in the front entry way. Nomination meetings take place this month and next month. Installation of new officers will be the latter part of
April.
RAFFLES
There are 3 raffles items that will be drawn on Super Bowl Sunday, February 1. We have a 32 inch TV set, an wooden
old fashion truck and an old fashion wooden ‘30’s coup car. The tickets are $2.00 each. The TV is a Magnavox LCD HDV
V-series. There will be new raffles each month.
THANK YOUS
A correction about the Pool Table—this is on loan to the Lodge from the Poker Players. Thank you to Kathy Piquette
for her effort in getting raffle items for last month, John & Vicki for making & serving the clam chowder and Vern for digging the fresh clams. The dinner was very successful. Thank you to Barb for all her help and everything she did while she
was Kitchen Manager. Thank you to everyone for donating printer cartridges—WOW!!! This is an ongoing fund raiser.
TEXAS HOLD’EM TOURNAMENT
One of the Lodge members, John Sampson, recently placed 129 out of 744 Texas Hold’em players in Las Vegas. Two
other members, Pat & Randy, also progressed. Randy is progressing to the next level. Way to go!!!!
THIRD SATURDAY DINNER
If you read the Governor’s article on Page 2 you will find that the Prime Rib Dinner on the third Saturday of each month
has been discontinued. In place of the Prime Rib there will be a Chicken Fried Steak dinner. If you have any suggestions
on a meal for that particular Saturday please contact the Administrator or Governor.
MEMBERSHIP
As your membership chairman it is my duty to ask each and every member to extend their best efforts to either sign up
and/or do our best to retain our current and past members. With that said I respectfully ask all of you to do your best.
When you and I and all of our fellow members joined this GREAT Fraternity and our Local Lodge we signed an agreement
that we would help our Fraternity and our Local Lodge grow. Now it the time to fulfill your signed duty. I have neglected
myself to do this but I will soon fulfill my share and ask all of you to do the same. That being said please let me ask each
and every member, women and men, to PLEASE work together. Don’t let the small things stop us from being the BEST
WE CAN BE!!! After all, if we work together we can be GREAT; if not we fail. PLEASE let all bygones be gone and
work hard for the betterment of our GREAT Lodge. Please remember that the LOOM meetings held the first and third
Wednesdays are open membership meetings.
I would like to give out a special thank you to: Robin, Milt & Jeannette, John & Vicki, Regina, Nancy and Vern for all
their efforts.

GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE
Happy New Year Everyone! The year begins with Good and Bad News.
The Bad news...it is tax season. The Lodge continues to pay down its debt. With the assistance of all the volunteers,
continued donations at our events and a concerted effort of all our members we can revive our Lodge and remind the
community that the Members of the Moose are a part of the fabric of our community.
The Good news...The Seahawks are once again in the Super Bowl.
I would like to thank everyone who helped with the Higher Degree Dinner. All of the money raised was given back
to the Lodge. A special Thank You to Tom and Robin who helped me pay for the supplies for the dinner.
Moving forward we will be unable to continue to have the Prime Rib Dinner due to rising costs. For the Lodge to
continue to have this event and make money, the price would be around $18.19 a plate. Instead we will be having
Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and a vegetable. I hope that everyone will continue to support this dinner.
The proceeds will be used to support the Lodge. If you have any suggestions or would like to see something on the
menu please share it with me.
I would like to give a special thank you to my daughter Christina Roush, my granddaughter Torina and their friend
Courtney who helped out on Prime Rib night. A special thank you to all the servers who gave their share of the donations back to the Lodge.
I look forward to the coming year and all the good we can do in the community.
Johnny Shults, Governor
“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” - Anne Frank
ADMINISTRATOR’S MESSAGE
There are now a variety of wine available. Pitchers of beer are now available. We have 2 non-domestic
beers. Miller & Pabst Blue Ribbon are on tap. These are substitutes for 2 microbrews, but if they were your
favorite we do have them in bottles and cans. Hopefully we’ll have Rainier on tap within the next couple
weeks. We have 8 pull tab bowls in hopes of having 10. Look for new raffles in February after Super Bowl
Sunday. Thank you to all the Higher Degree members who supported our Lodge for the dinner last month.
Sometime in March there will be a Fish Fry and Nick will be cooking.
MOOSE LEGION
Please attend the Moose Legion meeting the first Wednesday of each month. Bring your ideas so we can get
back on track. We need your spirit and enthusiasm.

SOCIAL QUARTERS
If there is something you would love to participate in or see happen and we have no listing for it,
please let us know at your convenience. You can stop by the lodge and speak to one of the officers. Or you
can leave us a note. Please include your name and phone number so we may contact you. We are also looking into some new activities.
Check for your lucky number at the bar every day. Get fifty cents off your first drink. This is based
on the last digit of your membership number.
The Lodge is looking for volunteer bartenders. If interested or you know of someone who is please
contact the Governor.
KITCHEN
We are looking for a new kitchen manager. Stop by and see what new meals we have to offer. We
need volunteers so if a few more members would step up that would be great. Thanks everyone for volunteering. Taxes are included in the price of all meals served. All volunteers are appreciated.
Only designated cooks or helpers are allowed in the kitchen. This is for the health and safety of all involved. Please abide by these rules.
PRINTER CARTRIDGES
We are recycling printer cartridges and old printers as a building maintenance fundraiser for repairs.
Please bring your old printer cartridges to the lodge to recycle. There is a collection box.
NEWSLETTER
If you or someone you know has not received a newsletter please stop by the lodge to pick one up. If
you would like a newsletter emailed to you please provide us with your name and email address. If you prefer having one mailed to you please provide us with your name and address. There is a small charge, $10.00
per year, for one being mailed out to you.
FUTURE EVENTS
For any other fall activities please contact either the LOOM or WOTM board members so a date can
be reserved for the activity. The sooner the better so we can advertise the activity.
ROOM RENTAL INFORMATION
To rent a room for an event please contact the Lodge.
ADVERTISING
The Vancouver Moose Lodge is going to give businesses an opportunity to advertise in our Newsletter. We have 350+ members who receive the Newsletter by mail and email. These could be customers who
may need your services. The cost will be $85.00 per year for non-members and $75.00 per year for members.
All advertising will be approved by the Board of Officers. This would be standard sized business cards. If
you are interested please give a copy of your advertisement to our Governor, Johnny Shults or call 360-8929105.

A New Moose Lodge is
forming in Snohomish.
Bob Bolden is the Moose
Service Center Organizer.
He is really excited about
the new lodge.
The Washington and
Northern Idaho State
Moose Associations are
14,000 members strong. If
you know anyone who
lives in the Snohomish area
please let them know about
this new lodge. This is an
opportunity for them to be
a charter member in a
Moose Lodge.
Next time you are in Snohomish, once the new
lodge is open, stop in and
say hello. May the spirit of
the Moose flow strong in
your veins.
Moose International News
Keep the Volunteer Spirit Alive with Fundraisers. We have dedicated members who work
every day in our Lodge homes and work for the projects of Mooseheart and Moosehaven. Most
ask for nothing in return but to see the smiling faces of children and seniors who are enjoying
the fruits of their labor. We know that every year things seem to get harder to accomplish.
There are fewer volunteers and most members just don’t have time for projects in fundraising.
The volunteers you have in your Lodge & Chapter need to be appreciated. They need compliments. Please do everything you can to be polite to each other. If there is a positive atmosphere in your lodge you will keep your volunteers and gain new members. Your retention rate
will be higher. So THINK POSITIVE and BE POLITE!!
