Cutting and drilling will produce some dust and it is good practice to work in a well-ventilated place and to wear protective safety equipment. The installation MUST be carried out in accordance with these instructions including the use of all trims and accessories. InnoWood ceiling must be supported by a code compliant substructure. InnoWood ceiling products are ideal for renovation. Note: InnoCeil is NOT intended to use for any loadbearing purpose. Site storage & Handling InnoCeil should not be stored in the open or covered wrapped with plastic sheet, InnoCeil is finish product, do not dump or dropped when loading or unloading. • InnoCeil boards should be carried on its edge, for better support. • When removing InnoCeil boards, do not slide boards against each other, lift the boards and set them down. • InnoCeil boards should be unpacked, stored in dry and flat surface supported at 600mm centre. • When handling InnoCeil boards take care to minimize scratches, nicks or to prevent damage the boards. • InnoCeil board should store under cover until ready to install. Thermal Movement Any wood based products will expand and contract slightly with changes in temperature, the amount of expansion varies according to the amount of changes of temperature. Although thermal movements are reversible, these movements due to temperature change may vary by up to 2mm per meter during the installation process. Innowood boards that have been exposed to the direct sun for several hours, prior to installation will have expanded more than those boards left in the shade. When installed, the hotter boards will contract more than the cooler boards that were left in the shade prior to installation. It is important to maintain an average consistent temperature for all the boards as it is being installed. 7 Framing Framing Construction Requirement Innowood ceiling may be fixed to timber or steel framing members or to a proprietary batten system. Spacing for InnoWood ceiling is nominally set at 450mm600mm centres. Structural members must have a face not less than 45mm for timber and 38 mm for steel. Where members are less than the required minimum face-width under a joint, sufficient landing must be provided by fixing an additional member. Note: InnoCeil can also be installed with two-way suspended grid or even an exsisting plaster board ceiling. Timber & Steel Framing Timber members to Innoceil to be fixed must: • comply with AS1684: Timber Framing Code. • be adequately seasoned to minimize shrinkage and associated building movement. • be spaced at less than 600mm centres. • have a fixing surface which is more than 45mm. Steel members to Innoceil to be fixed must comply with AS/NZS 4600: Cold-Formed Steel Structure or AS 3623: Domestic Metal Framing. • where steel framing members are specified, use only corrosion resistant galvanized steel framing. Specific instructions for fixing to steel frames are included where appropriate. • steel members must be spaced at no more than 600 mm centres. • it must also have a minimum fixing surface of no less than 38mm. Fire resistance Innowood products have been tested and passed the Early Fire Hazard Property criteria in compliance with AS/NZS 1530.3 and AS/NZS 3837. They are deemed a Group 2 Material in accordance with the Building Code of Australia (BCA), Volume 1, Specification A2.4; Fire Hazard Properties. 8 Installation “InnoWood ceiling has been designed for beauty as well as its ease of installation. ” Two-way suspended grid ceiling To avoid deflection due to weight the spacing should not be more than 600mm. 1. Remove existing old ceiling board if necessary. 2. Carefully trim Innoceil board to desired length. 3. Use screws ( suitable to back structure) to fix the board onto additional batten if necessary. Note: InnoCeil is NOT intended for use as any load- bearing members. Optional Inno-batten available FS03009 10 Physical Properties Serviceability InnoCeil is a wood composite material, which lies within the category of Reconstituted Wood-Based Panels. InnoCeil has been tested to and complies with AS/NZS 4266: Reconstituted Wood-Base Products Methods of Tests. Innowood Australia Pty Ltd ceiling materials will perform for the serviceability life of the building, if installed in accordance with the installation methods described in the Innowood Australia Pty Ltd Manuals and/or the specifications of an Innowood approved proprietary fixing system and are appropriately maintained. For information on the physical properties and the material safety data sheets, please contact InnoWood. Care & Maintenance “INNOWOOD product is a low-maintenance material.” General Cleaning INNOWOOD is an advanced composite material does not splinter, mildew, is water, fire resistance and termite proof. It is also simple and easy to maintain. INNOWOOD product is a low-maintenance material; composite wood requires simple care and handling to ensure lasting integrity. We recommend conducting 6 monthly inspections. It is best to complete cleaning when the board surface is cool to prevent cleaners from drying/evaporating on the board surface. Many stains can be cleaned with soap and water, normal procedure as following: • Immediately wipe the spot stain area and remove as much of the spill as possible. • If the spill consists of an abrasive substance, blot the spill. Do not rub. 11 • Soak the stained area with warm water and blot up with a soft towel. • If the stain is still evident, mix a solution of mild dishwashing detergent and warm water in a small bucket. • Using a clean towel or soft sponge, apply the soapy solution to the stain and allow to stand for 3 minutes. • After the stain has soaked wipe with a clean towel or sponge. If the stains have set on material and can’t be removed by soap and water, is recommend use “Methylated Spirit (mix ratio 3:7) or IntergrainReviva (mix ratio 1.:4)”, to remove heavy stains, an application of diluted sprit or Reviva (follow instructions as stated on packaging) rub lightly on effected area and wash down with clean water. Please note Reviva will lighten the colour of the boards. Trouble shooting General dirt and debris Disposal of Innoceil offcuts Spray with a hose to remove surface debris. Use warm soapy water and a soft-bristled brush to clear dirt and/or debris from grooves or contours. Pressure wash to remove more stubborn stains. Spray with a hose to remove surface debris. Safely dispose of Innowood cladding as per local legislation. Oil,grease,food and drink Remove and wipe as soon as possible. Spray with a hose and use warm soapy water and a soft-bristled brush. Pressure wash to more stubborn stains. Any surface stain that has been absorbed can be easily removed with a light, progressive sanding. Ice and snow Use a plastic shovel or broom to remove snow. Use rock salt or calcium chloride to melt ice. Rust stains and engrained dirt • Do not burn. • Treat as construction waste. • If unsure, consult your local governing body/ council. Scuffs, surface indents and marks Sanding should only be used for very stubborn stains and to a maximum depth of 0.5mm. Most marks blend naturally after certain period. Please note: All timber based products will release tannins but these will naturally stabilise after approximately 12 weeks, depending on the temperature, UV and exposure to rain. Cleaning products containing Oxalic or Phosphoric Acid can be used but DO NOT use bleach as this will lighten the cladding. With any cleaning product, test it on a small, inconspicuous area first, following manufacturer’s instructions. These Guidelines are subject to modifications without notice. Drawings & sketches are for illustration purpose only. Purchasers should verify whether any changes to specifications or applications or otherwise have been made since this literature was issued. This installation manual is only suited for conventional timber or metal framing systems. Please contact us for any other installation method. 12 Warranty INNOWOOD AUSTRALIA PTY LTD (“INNOWOOD”) warranty is valid from date of purchase. The warranty is not transferable and applies only to the original purchaser of the INNOWOOD products (Product), subject to compliance with the conditions of Warranty below: 1. For a period of 7 years from date of purchase, INNOWOOD warrants that the Products are resistant to cracking, splitting, swelling or rotting, flaking, splinters or peeling, water and moisture and to termites. 2. For a period of 7 years from the date of purchase, INNOWOOD warrants that the Products will be free from contains material defects in materials or workmanship except such defects as are normally regarded as being commercially acceptable including reasonable variations in colour, texture and tolerances. 3. For a period of 12 months from the date of purchase, INNOWOOD warrant that the accessories supplied by INNOWOOD will be free from defects due to workmanship and or manufacture. 4. INNOWOOD warrants that the Products sold will be reasonably fit for their intended purpose. Condition INNOWOOD will not be liable for breach of this warranty unless the claimant provides proof of purchase and full payment of the Products invoice and claim is made in writing giving full details of the complaint to INNOWOOD at the address set out below. INNOWOOD will not liable for breach of this warranty unless the claim is made within 7 days of the claimant becoming aware of a suspected or likely defect in the Product. The claimant is responsible for the costs of claiming under this warranty including: 1. the costs of writing and posting the warranty claim letter; 2. any other communication made by the customer to INNOWOOD including the costs of phone calls; 3. the labour and freight costs associated with removing the Product and replacing it; 4. a restocking and handling charge of 15% of 13 the invoice value except where: a. the wrong goods were delivered by INNOWOOD, in which case there will be no restocking or handling charge; and b. the Products are in an undamaged or unsoiled condition and in the original packaging, unless with the prior written consent of INNOWOOD. Upon receipt of a claim, INNOWOOD reserves the right to check and inspect the Product. INNOWOOD will inform claimant by writhing within 60 days after inspection, whether the Product is defective under the terms of this warranty. If INNOWOOD determines that the Product is defective under the terms of this warranty, INNOWOOD will, at its election: 1. repair or replacement the Product or part of it with the same or equivalent Product: or 2. pay for the cost of the replacement: or 3. refund the amount paid for the affected Product. If INNOWOOD determines that the Product is not defective under the terms of this warranty, the claimant shall promptly reimburse INNOWOOD for the costs of investigation and repair, if any, incurred by INNOWOOD. Limitation 1. The Product is subject to natural variation in finish as part of the manufacturing process. The purchaser or their installer/builder is responsible for inspecting, prior to installation, the colour, finish and size of the Product, identifying whether the Product has any other defect or manufacturing fault, and for ensuring the Product meets surface appearance and product specification requirements. Subject to the terms of this warranty, INNOWOOD is not liable for claims made after the installation of the Product that relate to surface appearance and product specification. 2. The Product must be installed and maintained strictly in accordance with the relevant INNOWOOD guidelines current at the time of installation and must be installed in conjunction with the components or products specified in the guidelines. The product must be coated if use in outdoor and maintained strictly in accordance with the relevant INNOWOOD Coating guidelines current at the time of coating the Product. INNOWOOD will not be responsible for damage to the Product if the project designed and constructed is not in strict compliance with all relevant provisions of the current Building Code of Australia regulations and standards. 5. INNOWOOD will not be liable for defects caused by any third party’s action, negligence, handling or storage of the Products. INNOWOOD is also not liable for any loss, damage or expenses suffered by any third party however such losses or expenses are caused. 6. Except as specified in this document and the Australian Consumer Law and to the fullest extent permitted by law: a. INNOWOOD will not be liable for any claim relating to damage or defects arising from transportation unless the claim is made within 7 days after receipt of the Product.; b. INNOWOOD will not be liable for any claims made after the installation of the Product that relate to surface appearance and product specification or from defects in materials or workmanship. c. INNOWOOD will not be liable for any claims if the Product is not used, assembled and/or installed and maintained in accordance with the relevant INNOWOOD guidelines. d. INNOWOOD will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether direct, indirect, consequential contingent or special) including personal injury, property damage, loss of profits, revenue, savings, labour, material or other costs, claims, damages or expenses, however caused, including from breach of this warranty; e. INNOWOOD will not be liable for any claims, damages or defects arising from or in any way attributable to poor workmanship, poor design or detailing, settlement, or structure movement and/or movement of materials to which the Product is attached; 7. In the circumstances where the Australian Consumer Law does not apply in respect of the purchase of the Product, if meet a claim under this warranty involve re-coating of Product, there may be slight colour differences between the original and replacement Product due to the effects of weathering and variations in materials over time and INNOWOOD is not liable for any such colour differences. NO OTHER WARRANTIES: This warranty does not cover: 1. Discoloration or other damage to the Product caused by air pollution, exposure to harmful chemicals, or normal weathering from the elements, normal weathering is defined as exposure to sunlight and extremes of weather and atmosphere which will cause any coloured surface to gradually fade, chalk, or accumulate dirt or stains. The severity of any condition depends on the geographical location of the product, the cleanliness of the air in the area, and many other influences over which INNOWOOD has no control; 2. Damage by storm, tempest, acts of God, growth of mould, mildew, fungi, bacteria, or any other organism on the surface of the Product, or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of INNOWOOD; 3. Growth of mould, mildew, fungi, bacteria or any organism on any product surface of the Product (whether on exposed or unexposed surfaces). 4. Variations in embossing patterns; 5. Variations in colour in different production runs or batches. 6. Small bubbles/ blemishes on the surface of the Product 7. Labour or Freight including costs associated with removing the defective Innowood or replacing it. INNOWOOD reserves the right without notice to discontinue or modify any of its Products, including the colour, and INNOWOOD shall not be liable in the event the replacement Product may vary in colour or gloss in comparison to the original Product. If INNOWOOD replaces any Product under this warranty, it may substitute Products designated by INNOWOOD to be of comparable quality or value in the event that the Product initially installed has been discontinued or modified. Except as specifically set out in this warranty, any term, representation, condition or warranty in respect of the quality, condition or description of the Product whether implied by statute, common law, trade usage, custom or otherwise is hereby expressly excluded. To extent that legislation imposes warranties or impose obligations upon INNOWOOOD which cannot be excluded, restricted or modified, this warranty must be read subject to those statutory provisions to the extent that they apply. 14
