Pray the Psalms or the Liturgy of the Hours. Whether you are praising, giving thanks, asking for forgiveness, or seeking an answer, you’ ll find an appropriate psalm. FEBRUARY 8, 2015 SATURDAY: SUNDAY: MONDAY: TUESDAY: 5:30 PM 8:00 AM 10:00 AM 12:00 N 6:30 AM 9:00 AM 6:30 AM 9:00 AM 6:30 AM 9:00 AM 6:30 AM William Delaney Jennie Missewicz Edward Sottolano Richard Ennis 1st Anniversary Bill Hellwarth Julia & Anthony Oliver Elizabeth Shedacre Loretta Burns WEDNESDAY Marian Annesley Patrick O’Connor THURSDAY: Lynn McNulty 11th Anniversary 9:00 AM Eva Kovac FRIDAY: 6:30 AM Mary Houk 9:00 AM Vincent Altomare 9th Anniversary SATURDAY: 9:00 AM Claire Turner 5:30 PM Alice Stoll SUNDAY: FEBRUARY 15, 2015 8:00 AM Marilynn Johnson 2nd Anniversary 10:00 AM Jim Melly 12:00 N William Johnson 15th Anniversary 2. Recite the “Jesus Prayer” Say “Lord Jesus, have mercy on me, a sinner,” repeatedly as you quiet your heart and mind. 3. Meditate using Scripture. Choose a passage from the Bible. Read the words and ask God to let the passage speak to you. Pay special attention to anything that strikes you and ask God what He wishes for you to draw from that passage. 4. Read the life of a saint and pray with him or her. Most holy men and women have had a great devotion to Our Lord in the Eucharist. Therese of Lisieux, Catherine of Siena, Francis of Assisi, Thomas Aquinas, Peter Julian Eymard, Dorothy Day, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Baroness Catherine de Hueck are just a few. Read about them and pray their prayers before the Blessed Sacrament. 5. Pour out your heart to Christ and adore Him. Speak to Jesus, aware that you are in His presence, and tell Him all that comes to your mind. Listen for His response. Pray the prayer that St. Francis instructed his brothers to pray whenever they were before the Blessed Sacrament: “I adore you, O Christ, present here and in all the churches of the world, for by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.” 6. Pray the Rosary. Ask Mary to join you as you gaze on Christ in the Eucharist and as you pray the Rosary. 7. Sit quietly and just be in the presence of God. Think of a visit to the Blessed Sacrament as coming to see your best friend. Sit quietly and enjoy being in each other’s company. Instead of talking to the Lord, listen to what He wants to tell you. 2015 PARISH MISSION FEBRUARY 23-26 7:00 PM ST. CYRIL CHURCH SAVE THE DATE! PAJAMA COLLECTION MONTH OF FEBRUARY February begins our annual pajama collection for St. Christopher’s Hospital. They are down to 20 pairs of pajamas. This is amazing since last year we sent 500 pairs. I learned that the cancer department of the hospital also relies on dressing their patients in your pajamas. This certainly is good news to hear that the nurses all over St. Christopher’s Hospital know to use the pajamas, this is a blessing. It appears that our pajamas are an integral part of the well being of the children. So...our work is cut out for us this year. The sizes are from Newborn to Size 14. It is heartwarming that now our love has been extended to all the children. Thanking you in advance for all your support. Our session on February 22 and March 1st is titled, “The Bible” and the objectives are (1) to give candidates a general introduction to the Bible, (2) demonstrate that the Word of God is a practical and powerful source of inspiration and direction in our lives and (3) to encourage candidates to develop the habit of reading the Bible regularly.
