Working with & Understanding First Australians TRAINER Ivan Clarke Ivan has many years experience as a counsellor, clinical & educational consultant, and group leader in the Strong Aboriginal Men’s Program. He was the senior Aboriginal counsellor with Link-Up NSW specialising in supporting stolen generation clients with alcohol and other drug issues, trauma, grief and loss, dual diagnosis and mental health issues. In 2011 Ivan commenced working as the State Wide Educator for the Education Centre Against Violence. In this workshop we will look at key historical events and how they have impacted on Aboriginal families, children and communities in the past and into the present, as well as practical strategies for working with Aboriginal children, families, communities and peers.
