10:30 A.M. THE ORDER OF SERVICE FOR THE LORD`S
10:30 A.M. THE ORDER OF SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY
Feb. 15, 2015
“Welcome to this time of Worship.
As you enter our Sanctuary, take time to prepare your heart in quiet meditation, for Worship .”
Gathering Thought
Our current technology makes it impossible to escape the anger, hostility and violence of
the world, which the God of love created. As Christians, we want to find a better way to
follow the God of love, hope and purpose. But what are we to do? If you are willing to
reflect on three simple questions, you will be challenged to develop behaviours that will
change you, as an individual, your small groups and your congregation.
Prelude
Thy Love Enfold Us
Trust (Finlandia)
Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
(Silent Prayer)
Lord, have mercy,
Lord, have mercy,
Lord, have mercy on us.
Assurance of Pardon
* The Gloria
Glory to God, glory to God,
glory to God in the highest!
Glory to God, glory to God,
Alleluia, alleluia!
Book of Praise 371

* Prayer of Approach
* Introit
Come, Now Is The Time To Worship
Come, now is the time to worship
One day every tongue will confess You are God
Come, now is the time to give your heart
One day every knee will bow
Come, just as you are to worship
Still, the greatest treasure remains for those
Come, just as you are before your God
Who gladly choose You now
Come
Prayer of Confession (in unison)
Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against You in thought, word and
deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You
with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry
and we humbly repent. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and
forgive us; that we may delight in Your will, and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your
Name. Strengthen us by the power of the Holy Spirit. We pray in the name of Jesus, who
taught us this prayer…

* All those who are able may stand.
Our Father who art in heaven
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the Kingdom
And the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

UPCOMING EVENTS
LIBRARY NEWS ~ Adultery, guilt, forgiveness and eventually healing are
examined in this well-written, compelling, faith based novel by Gina Holmes. You will enjoy
Driftwood Tides (rose 599). Holmes writes in a manner similar to Karen Kingsbury. Look for
it in the Library.
Sheila’s Café ~
Come out Wednesday morning and have a piece of freshly baked coffee-cake and a coffee with
us—9-11:00 a.m. Our next Breakfast is Wednesday, February 25th. Mark your calendars!
●STEWARDSHIP MOMENT – February 15: God has given us two hands – one to
receive with and the other to give with. We are not cisterns made for hoarding; we are
channels made for sharing.
Billy Graham (1918-2007), evangelist
●MISSION MOMENT – February 15: Typhoon Haiyan Survivors Moving Forward
Hanie Ablona looks at her freshly harvested rice stalks with happiness—her rice and corn crops
have almost doubled in size this year. Providing a much-needed source of food and income,
the seed for her crops was provided through a Presbyterian World Service & Development
project helping recover livelihoods in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. Many farmers lost all of
their planted crops and available seed but are now starting to recover thanks to the project.
Communities like Hanie’s are also receiving assistance in reconstructing homes and ensuring
that they will be resistant to future natural disasters. Communities are starting to see great
progress and PWS&D continues to support long-term rehabilitation and recovery in response to
the typhoon. PWS&D provides support after natural disasters

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, which is the
penitential season lasting 40 days before Easter but excluding the six Sundays. These forty
days recall the Israelites’ forty years in the desert, and Jesus’ forty days in the wilderness. As
Christians begin the season of Lent today, Ash Wednesday is an opportunity for us to go deeper
into our hearts and into the soul of our community, and to recognize that we are finite creatures
and that we fall short of God’s holiness. In practicing the spiritual disciplines of Lent, we seek
to strengthen our relationship with God.
The service for Ash Wednesday will be held on Wednesday, February 19 at 7:00 p.m.
The Westmount Drama Group will be performing a Reader’s Theatre presentation at the Good
Friday Service on April 3rd. We will require 14 readers – 9 men and 5 women. If you would
like to be part of this project, please sign the sheet in the Narthex, call the office, or e-mail
Connie Christmas at conniexmas@sympatico.ca, by February 15th.
Hope to hear from you!

PSALM 22: 25-31
25
From you comes my praise in the great congregation;
my vows I will pay before those who fear him.
26
The poor shall eat and be satisfied;
those who seek him shall praise the LORD.
May your hearts live for ever!
27
All the ends of the earth shall remember
and turn to the LORD;
and all the families of the nations
shall worship before him.
28
For dominion belongs to the LORD,
and he rules over the nations.
29
To him, indeed, shall all who sleep in the earth
bow down;
before him shall bow all who go down to the dust,
and I shall live for him.
30
Posterity will serve him;
future generations will be told about the Lord,
31
and proclaim his deliverance to a people yet
unborn, saying that he has done it.
