Behold Brisbane’s newest and most brutal jazz orchestra, the Valtozash
Bigband.
Recently described as ‘innovative but kind of messed up’, the band splices the
textures and improvisation of jazz with the numerous styles of metal; thrash,
grindcore, march, ambience, among others.
Under the oppression of Andre Bonetti, composer and electric-vibraphonist,
Valtozash has among the hottest players in Brisbane and boasts a seven piece
horn section.

Ingrid James introduces all the fun and spirit of this popular night with many
special guests including some of Brisbane’s finest Jazz Vocalists. Sharing
the stage with these amazing singers will be a swinging Trio featuring Ian

Lisa is excited to bring to the BJC her show Lessons in Love – showcasing
the good, bad and ugly side of that little thing called! With a voice as warm,
colourful and sultry as her stage persona, it promises to be a night packed with
fun and great music.

is supported by some of Brisbane’s finest musos, who are bound to get you off
your seat and dancing with a repertoire ranges from Neo Swing to Traditional
Jazz & Blues. Whether you are a dancer or a music lover - this show is for those
who want to let their hair down and jump and jive!

Brisbane Big Band – ‘love the sound’

Once again the lovely Lauren Cocking is our special vocal guest. Along with
the smooth tones and personality of Alan Western, she will present some of the
great swing tunes in her own special style, joyfully played by the wonderful Brad
Esbensen and the BBB. It’s the BBB at the BJC - love the sound !!!

Caxton Street Jazz Band
(Traditional Jazz / New Orleans Groove / Vocal Jazz)
Band 7.30pm – 10pm
The Caxton Street Jazz Band presents hot, swinging jazz in a manner than
elicits enthusiastic responses from listening and/or dancing audiences. Members
of the band include some of Australia’s leading jazz players in their idiom, as well
as two instrumentalists who are also vocalists. The Caxton Street Jazz Band is
a 6-piece band that not only appeals to jazz aficionados, but also to the general
public at large.

Funky Miracle

Funk would be nothing without the Blues so for their first gig of 2015 Funky
Miracle are focussing on the Blue end of the funk spectrum. Regular vocalist
Andy Ferrett will be joined by the power of Bridget O’Donohue and soul of Karen

Di Clark Quartet

Di returns for her 5th headline gig at the Brisbane Jazz Club. She will be reunited
with the amazing Libor Smoldas on guitar after their successful gigs in Prague
in 2014. Also accompanying this fab pair will be BJC favourites, Peter Walters bass and Paul Hudson - drums for an evening of super classic jazz.

Wild Silk Strings Project
(Vocal Jazz / Original Jazz / Standards)
Band 7.30pm – 10pm
The lush, beautiful sounds of the Wild Silk Quintet will be enriched by a string
trio for this special concert including featured guests from Canberra, Miroslav
Bukovsky on trumpet and John Mackey on sax. The varied repertoire of
originals, lesser known jazz standards and unique arrangements of classical
works reflecting both the jazz traditions and a European asesthetic. The
interweaving of the voice with brass, winds and strings creates endless new
colours and textures. The strings lineup features Michael Patterson, Eugenie
Costello, Courtenay Lind with stellar rhythm section Andrew Shaw and Paul
Hudson.

Pepperazzi Big Band
(Big Band / Vocal Jazz)
Band 6pm – 9pm
The band formed more than 10 years ago as a community group but have
developed since that time into a semi-professional stage band that has
built a reputation as one of the best working around Brisbane and South
East Queensland. Pepperazzi still maintains its community roots through
performances at local events ( such as the Sherwood Festival and West End
Twilight Markets) and charity events.
