ANTHEM
“The Secret of Christ” Richard Shephard
Lauren-Rose King, soprano
For a long time I have held my peace, but now will I speak. I will lead the lost in a way they know
not, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn their darkness into light, and I
will not forsake them. And He showed me a pure river of the water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God; and on either side of the river was there a tree of life, and the
leaves of the trees were for the healing of the nations. Help us, Lord, to persevere in prayer with
minds awake and thankful hearts, that we may share the secret of Christ with those we meet on
our earthly pilgrimage, following in the steps of Jesus, our Master and our Friend. Amen.

Litany
Leader:
O God, whom we worship this day: On the Mount of Transfiguration You bore
witness to Your Son, revealing the glory of His being and the authority of His
teaching with the words,
All:
“This is My Son, the Beloved; listen to Him.”
Leader:
O God, look with favor on us, Your Church, that we may be renewed in holiness and
reflect Your glory.
All:
Light of God, transfigure us that we may mirror You.
Leader:
O God, look with favor on all those in need and distress, suffering as Your Son has
suffered. May the day break and Christ the Morning Star bring them the light of Your
presence.
All:
Light of God, transfigure us that we may be vessels of healing and hope.
Leader:
God of Compassion, look with favor on the nations of the world, especially those
scarred by hatred, strife and war with souls crying out to be changed by the touch of
Your hand.
All:
Light of God, transfigure us that we may be instruments of peace.
Leader:
God of Light, You have fashioned each of us in Your image. Where fear and distrust
so easily divide, give us hearts full of compassion and understanding.
All:
Light of God, transfigure us that we may live as one.
Leader:
God of Justice, wherever we see, hear, speak or feel the fear and hatred that are the
roots of prejudice, provide us with the courage to care, the wisdom to speak out, and
the passion to stand up for equality.
All:
Light of God, transfigure us that we may be instruments of change.
Leader:
God of Glory and Light, with Peter we confess our desire to stay with You on the holy
mountain, enjoying the company of saints and keeping the experience of the Divine
to ourselves. Forgiving God, call us down from the mountain of our worship that we
may continue the work of Your kingdom.
All:
Having been changed by the Light of the World, let us go and share the
radiance of Your love!
Leader:
Call us down from the mountains of privilege. Keep expecting more of us as Your
disciples. Keep reminding us to listen to Your Son, in whose name we now pray with
words He taught, saying,
The Lord’s Prayer (use “debts”)

Tibetan Singer, Songwriter
YUNGCHEN LHAMO IN CONCERT
Sunday, March 8
2:30pm, Sanctuary
We are honored to have Yungchen Lhamo perform at Marble
as part of our Diversity Series. She embodies a uniquely
American story as a displaced Tibetan living in New York
City. Since fleeing Tibet across the Himalayas on foot in 1989,
Yungchen, whose name means “Goddess of Song,” has
emerged as the world’s leading Tibetan
vocalist and has collaborated with artists
such as Natalie Merchant, Philip Glass,
and Annie Lennox. She mesmerizes
audiences with her haunting a cappella
performances. Through her music, which
explores Buddhist themes of spiritual pilgrimage, soul searching and a delight in
the natural environment, she invites the
listener to fully experience her message
of healing, peace and oneness, weaving
song and prayer into a sacred art form.
Tickets: $20/general admission; $15/students & seniors; $5 discount for advanced
registration. $10 each/group discount for ten or more. Purchase at www.MarbleChurch.org. Please note: advance pricing ends 4:00pm, Friday, March 6.
Special Labyrinth Walks
1:00-2:15pm; 4:00-4:45pm
Complement your concert experience by walking to Yungchen’s music before
and after her concert. “Pure, haunting, bell-like, clear, luminous. She sings from
the heart to the heart.” (The Yoga Journal)
Vision: We envision a world where we all become the individuals
God created us to be.
Mission: Marble Collegiate Church is a diverse, inclusive community
of God’s people led by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We
inspire everyone to become positive thinkers who make a difference
in the world.
