Notes for First-Time Worshippers at Central
We invite you to take home the bookmark from the Welcome Card, as a
reminder of your visit. If you would like to know more about us, fill in
the information insert in the card, detach it and place it on the offering
plate. Before you leave, please sign the guest book in the vestibule.
Infant care is available during the service. Please feel free to keep your
little ones with you in church. For the nursery, go through the door at the
front of the sanctuary (right side). Once through, walk to the end of the
corridor where you will see the nursery. Washrooms are available in the
same corridor. Children are invited to attend Faith Finders during the
worship service. Our congregation follows the Presbyterian Church in
Canada Leading with Care policy, which seeks to ensure a “Climate of
Safety for Children, Youth and Vulnerable Adults”.

Charlton Club, a group for young people in Grades 6 to 12, meets on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 pm on the

ANNUAL FAITH FINDERS PANCAKE BRUNCH FUNDRAISER Mark your calendars, March 8th!! It’s time once again for our Annual
Pancake Brunch fundraiser following the worship service. Join us for plain
and blueberry pancakes, sausages, apple sauce, tea, coffee and juice – all for
$5.00 per person or $15.00 for a family of three or more. (There is always
plenty for seconds!) All proceeds go to support our Sponsor Child, Eyob, his
family and his village in Ethopia.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETIING TODAY - Please plan to attend the
Annual General Meeting in the Church Hall following a light luncheon
after the service today. We encourage everyone to attend -- this is your
chance to be informed and involved in the life of your church
community! Hope to see you there.
TODAY, DURING THE AGM, there will be a programme for the children
downstairs in “The Hub”. Lunch will be provided, as well as fun activities.

PRIME TIME meets again this Wednesday at 2:00 pm in the Guild Room.
A time for music, laughter and discussion.
FOOD DRIVE – We are continuing to collect donations of non-perishable
food items which will be given through Hamilton Food Share to less
fortunate Hamilton families. Please place any items that you bring in the
blue boxes located at the front entrance in the narthex. A list of “Most
Needed Items” has been posted for your consideration. Thank you in
advance for your donations!
MEN’S BREAKFAST CLUB – The next meeting of the Men’s Breakfast
Club is next Saturday, February 28th at 8:00 am in the Church Hall. This
is an excellent opportunity to meet up for good food and a time for
fellowship. Full breakfast will be available at a cost of $7.00. Please make
sure you sign up in advance on the list in the Church Hall.
PRAYER CIRCLE – During the vacancy, you are invited to join us in a
time of prayer each Sunday morning at 10:00 am in the Guild Room.

COPIES of the Daily Devotional Booklet ‘Today’ for Mar/Apr 2015 are
available on the small tables throughout the Church. You are encouraged to
“Take Ten”, that is to take ten minutes each day to read and then reflect on
the Bible text and commentary printed in the booklet. It will help you grow
as a more disciplined disciple of Jesus.
THE HAMILTON AREA SCIENCE AND RELIGION FORUM hosts
its next talk on Friday, February 27 at 4:15 pm. Dr. Kevin Vander Meulen
from Redeemer College will speak on “Mathematics as a Cultural Activity”.
He will explore mathematics as rooted in biblical themes. Room A114, John
Hodgins Engineering Building (South Entrance) McMaster University. For

Scripture support for sermon – El-Shaddai
Shaddai, “The God Who Is Enough”. The process of Abram being the
father of a mighty nation now moves into high gear!
Genesis 17:1-2 “When, Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to
him and said, ‘I am God Almighty (El-Shaddai) walk before me and be
blameless. I will confirm my covenant between me and you, and will
greatly increase your numbers.’”
Genesis 12:1 “The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Leave your country, your
people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.’”
V2 makes a covenant with Abram that he will make him into a great
nation, and make his name great.
Genesis 12:4 tells us that Abram was 75 years old, when he left his
father’s household and struck out on his own.
Genesis 16:15-16 “So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the
name Ishmael to the son she had born. Abram was 86 years old when
Hagar bore him Ishmael.
Abram was 75 years old when asked to leave his father’s household,
and the promise was given he would be the father of a great nation.
He was 86 years old when Ishmael was born. 86 – 75 = 11 years
waiting.
A MESSAGE FROM CENTRAL’S INTERIM MODERATOR, THE REVEREND CURTIS BABLITZ Dear Members and Friends of Central Presbyterian Church,
So Abram was very anxious and took matters into his own hands after
11 years of waiting. God delays another 13 years in order to make
things even more impossible. 11 + 13 = 24 years.
I am delighted to tell you that the Session has invited a candidate to
come and preach for the call at Central on March 22nd, 2015. On
that Sunday, the candidate will lead Central in worship, and
following the service the congregation will meet to decide whether
or not to proceed with calling this candidate as their minister. This
is going to be a very important Sunday that you will not want to
miss; all members in good standing in the congregation have a right
and a responsibility to hear the candidate and to vote on this matter,
and all those who are not members but are involved in the life and
ministry of the church will have an opportunity to have their voices
heard as well. Please make plans to attend the service on March
22nd, and until then, please keep praying that God will continue to
speak to the church and that we will hear and follow.
Now after a 24 year delay, and things look more impossible than ever
before, Gen 17:1 God comes and reintroduces himself to Abram as El-

Genesis 16:16 Abram was 86 years old when illegitimate child Ishmael
was born.
Genesis 17:1 God comes to Abram and introduces himself as ElShaddai and Abram is 99 years old.
99 – 86 = 13 year gap between
chapter 16 & 17. Thirteen years God did not talk to Abram.

set up in the Church Hall following the worship service
with some selected books for you to browse through. If
you would like to borrow a book, simply remove the card
and write your name on it. The card can either be left in
the box in the library or you can give it to one of the library
assistants on duty that day. These books as well as the
other books in the collection may be borrowed for a period
of one month. They may be renewed as many times as
necessary at one-month intervals. However, if a book goes
beyond the due date, a contribution of a loonie for the library
will be requested! If you currently have a delinquent
church library book in your possession, please return it so
it can be re-registered. If you have any questions or need
assistance, please speak to one of the library assistants on
duty. Drop in to meet us in the library and have an
enjoyable read!
