Rules and Regulation
01. Championship will be conducted on knock –out basis.
02. If any player who does not turn up for his/her match at the time schedule, he or she has a walkover
given against them. Ten minutes grace will granted and no postponement shall be allowed under
any circumstance.
03. Competition shall be allowed to play only with doubles partners nominated by them in the entry
form. Partners name should necessarily be indicated in the entry form.
04. A competition will be allowed to substitute a partner in his original nominated partner is prevented
from playing through illness, injury or other unavoidable hindrance. Such proposed substitute shall
be notified to the tournament Referee or an appointed official in writing before the
commencement of that particular event. Such substitution should not be of a higher rank player
than the original players and the new combination should be of a standard lower that the original
combination.
05. All matches will be played according to the rules and regulations of badminton as approved by the
SLBA.
06. The decision of the umpire on all matters connected with the actual play in the match of which he/
she is umpiring shall be final.
07. All disputers with regard to the championship shall be referred to the tournament committee of
the University of Kelaniya Sports Council. The decision of the tournament committee on all matters
connected with the tournament and on any matters not provided for shall be final and binding on
all participants.
08. The tournament committee depending on the entries may conduct preliminary round for all
events (qualifying round) matches. An event may be cancelled for the lack of entries.
09. If a player concedes a walk over in any event due to injury /illness or absence he/she will not be
permitted in the other event of the tournament. Any exceptional circumstances will be referred to
the appointed official for a decision.
10. Only Cock base Nyloan Shuttle Cocks will be used for every matches.
11. Entries will be closed 1st of January 2016 and no entries will be accepted after this date under any
circumstances.
12. Payments can be made together with the application form. Alternatively payments can be made to
the “Sports Council - University of Kelaniya”. Bank Account (No. 055-1-001-2-0667657) at any
branch of Peoples’ Bank. You have to produce a copy of the payment voucher when posting the
application form.
13. No entries will be received without entry fees.
14. Entries can be handed over to the Department of Physical Education University of Kelaniya from
9.00 a.m. -4.00p.m. During weekdays
For all Participants:
 Medals and certificates will be awarded for the champions, runner - up & second runner up of the tournament.
 Certificates for every participant.
