18 February 2015, Novotel Hotel BRISBANE Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in the Workplace: An Effective Treatment Approach ABOUT THE WORKSHOP NEW WORKSHOP FOR 2015! CBT in the workplace is designed to be an interactive full day workshop that assists with the development of key understandings of the theory and practical components of treatment in the workplace. Skills will be developed in the identification of staff that are able to access tailored workplace programs that work in conjunction with their rehabilitation needs. Additionally, the workshop will cover legal considerations of injured workers, return to work processes and CBT in the workplace. This includes highlighting potential ethical and professional dilemmas when working with injured staff members along with understanding the obligations of leaders, managers and case managers when undertaking interventions or dealing with work related stress injuries or mental health within a workplace context. Nursing, B. Psych (Hns), Masters of Clin Psyc Nicole is a psychologist who assesses and treats adults, children and families presenting with complex mental health disorders and health conditions in a private settings. Nicole works with a number of government and non-government organisations in the assessment and treatment of psychosocial injury and rehabilitation in the workplace and factual workplace investigations. Nicole has worked in the public (out-patient and in-patient) and private (inpatient) mental health sector as both a Registered Nurse and Psychologist. Nicole has worked with clients suffering from mental health disorders including Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Eating Disorders, Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, ADHD, Asperger’s and Personality Disorders. In addition, clients with co-morbid issues of substance abuse, physical issues and intellectual impairment. Nicole provides a number of therapies, including CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Dyadic Development Psychotherapy. 9.00am-10.40am Session 1 will discuss the background, theory and benefits of CBT in the workplace, applications in the workplace, the role that the workplace plays in treatment, the roles of confidentiality, and the difference and similarities between CBT in traditional therapeutic settings and in the workplace. 10.40am-11.00am Morning Tea 11.00am-12.45pm Session 2 will address the obligations to the workplace and the client, how to assess when staff are able to engage in CBT in the workplace, treatment in conjunction with rehabilitation and Return to Work plans, and Suitable Duties and CBT. 12.45pm – 1.30pm Lunch (provided) AFTERNOON SESSION Jo Karabitsios, Psychologist, PsyCare BPsySc (Hons) DPsychOrg (Cand.) AMAPS GAICD Jo is a Registered Psychologist and Director of People and Culture at The PsyCare Group. Jo's consulting work within the corporate domain includes executive and leadership coaching, team development, stress management and wellness training, workshop facilitation, strategic planning, governance and risk management, conflict resolution, mediation and organisational health and hazard management. Jo also has extensive experience in the treatment of a range of common psychological problems, specialising in the use of cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and solution focused therapy for anxiety and mood disorders, with a specific interest in work-life balance, stress and time management, personal development and self-esteem and confidence building. The final section of the workshop takes participants through a people risk decision matrix based on case studies and helps participants to formulate recommendations and intervention within a framework of workplace legislation.
