“FIDDLER ON THE ROOF” on Fri., March 20, at 7:30 PM; Sat., March 21 at 7:30 PM and Sun., March 22 at 2:30 PM
at the High School Theatre. Reserved seating - $10.00 for Adults, $7.00 for Children/Students/Senior Citizens.

Attention All Students: The Ski Club will be headed to Seven Springs today, Feb. 27th after school. All
sign-up forms must be turned into Mr. Sekelik today.
Attention All Students: THE SPRING SPORT SEASON BEGINS MONDAY, MARCH 2, 2015. Spring
sports signups will be extended until 12:00 PM on Mon., March 2nd in the Athletic Office. Please be aware
signups will close after at that time, no extensions permitted. See Mrs. Demynan in the Athletic Office for
the appropriate forms.
Attention Seniors: Scholarship Deadlines!! The deadlines for the South Fayette scholarships are quickly
approaching - The Pink Out Scholarship and Bea Minkler Scholarship deadlines are TODAY, February 27th.
Nathan Ostrowski Memorial Scholarship deadline is April 7th and Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh
Science Scholarship Award deadline is March 13th. Please submit on time if you are applying for any of
these scholarships.
Attention FBLA State Qualifiers: This Fundraiser will officially end today! Please submit your Coffee,
Fudge and Cookie Dough Orders and Payment to Mrs. Perry by the end of the day.
Attention All Students: Did you order a Letterman Jacket? The Letterman Jackets are in and can be
picked up in the Athletic Office. You must pick up your jacket by the end of the day today, Feb. 27th.

Attention all Students: Students considering a career in the armed services should consider taking the
ASVAB Test next Wed., March 4th. The test will be administered at the high school by personnel affiliated
with the armed services in the HS Conference Center. Students who are interested in taking the test,
should sign up in the Guidance Office.
Attention All Students: The annual Circle of Friends Penny Challenge starts on Mon., March 2nd and will
run until Fri., March 20th. Our 1st period classes in the high school are competing for most raised. The
class that raises the most will go to the movies in April and get to hold the winner’s trophy for a year!
Second place will get movie passes. The other school buildings in the district will be involved as well. The
money raised goes to programs and sports teams for kids with special needs. We’ve done a great job here
at South Fayette in years past and are hoping to continue the tradition. Good luck everyone and thank you
from Circle of Friends and all the kids this benefits for your continued support!
Good Luck SF Wrestlers: Best of luck to our SF Wrestlers today and tomorrow, Feb. 27th and 28th as they
compete at the Southwest Regional Class “AA” Championships at Canon McMillan High School.

Congratulations to SF Girls Varsity Basketball for defeating Elizabeth Forward 66-63 in the WPIAL
Semi-finals! They are headed to The Peterson event center for the WPIAL “AA” Championship game
against the Blackhawk Lady Cougars! The big game is tomorrow, Sat., Feb. 28th at 3:00 PM. High school
students can purchase tickets on Fri., Feb. 27th from 7:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the Athletic Office.
Good Luck Indoor Track Team: Good luck to our Indoor Boys and Girls Track Team as they compete at
the PTFCA Championships on Sun., March 1st at 9:00 AM at Penn State University.
Congratulations to SF Boys Varsity Basketball for winning the PIAA Class “AAA” Play-In 7th Seed Game
65 to 51 against the Highland Golden Rams. Way to go team!
Congratulations also goes to the SF Varsity Hockey Club for winning 12 to 8 against Wheeling Park last
night!

Attention Spring Track Team: All members of the spring track team are to meet Mon., March 2nd in the
HS Commons at 3:30 PM. There will be a brief meeting with an outdoor workout to follow. Please dress
appropriately for the workout.
Attention All Students and Parents: The Teens for Jeans campaign collected 610 pairs of jeans for
homeless teens. Thank you for your generosity!

Attention All Students: Congratulations to Spencer Barber and Jordan Timmons for being selected to
play on the PIHL Varsity Hockey All Star West Division A team. Both Spencer and Jordan were recognized
for their outstanding contributions during the 2014-2015 hockey season. The PIHL All Star games were
played on Sat., Feb. 7th. Spencer and Jordan contributed to the West Division team win, 7-4. Jordan had a
goal and an assist and Spencer had an assist.
Attention All Students: We would like to recognize and congratulate one of our art/media students, junior
Rachel Pollock, for her creative contributions to the design of South Fayette Township’s new logo. Rachel,
who aims to become a graphic designer, will be highlighted in SF Township’s upcoming newsletter inside IN
Community/IN South Fayette. Good job Rachel!

Attention All Students: Please join us! There is a group of fifteen (15) high school students going to
“Painting with a Twist” located in Robinson Twp. after school on Fri., March 6th. We will leave by school
bus at 2:15 PM and return back to school by 6:30 PM. The cost is $35.00 for a 20 x 16 stretched CANVAS,
all of the brushes, paints, instruction. Please see Mr. McAndrew or Lexi Palucis THIS WEEK if interested.
This is open to HS students only.
Congratulations Governor STEM Team: Congratulations to Brennan McCann, Cara Price, Brooke Ley,
Jackie Witwicki and Eishan Ashwat for taking 1st place in the State’s Largest Regional Governor's STEM
Competition at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU). Our region had the most teams competing, 15 total,
compared to all the other regional competitions across the state. The 3-phase competition had (1) an onsite team problem-solving challenge of an egg drop, (2) a 10-minute presentation on STEM in our
Community, and (3) a 20-minute prototype presentation, which left one judge in such a state, his comment
was, "You guys need to get this patented as soon as possible !" So, they seemed greatly impressed with
our new walker design, called "The LifeSafer". These talented students will now head east on May 29th to
complete the sweep and bring home another State Title! Good luck crew!
Congratulations SF Athletes: Congratulations to Maddie Bartrug (200 meter free), Mikey Carr (138 lb.)
and JJ Walker (160 Lb.) for winning WPIAL Championships this weekend. The South Fayette Township
School District and community are very proud of you. Go Lions!
Attention French Club Members: French Club will be making Belgian waffles after school on Mon., March
2nd in room AA203. Please bring your favorite topping to share for the waffles!
Attention Juniors: Chartiers Valley High School is hosting a FREE Mini ACT Practice Test on Thurs.,
March 26 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Experienced test-prep tutor, Phil McCaffrey, will cut a previous ACT in half,
proctor the test, and then score it for you. For more information, contact Phil McCaffrey at 412-855-5535.
Attention all Students: Any student who would still like to purchase their Datamatch survey may do so
from Mr. McArdle in classroom AB221. Surveys are $2 a piece.
Attention all Students: If you are interested in signing up for the Mini-THON in April, please go to Mr.
Flannery’s room to get your signup forms. All money raised from the event will go to support the Four
Diamonds Fund to fight childhood cancer. Last year we had thirty teams and over 250 students participate
and raised over $21,000, and we hope to see you at this year’s event! A reminder to all team captains that
you should be getting your team members signed up on DonorDrive as soon as possible.
Attention All Students: Penn Commercial Business and Technical School, located in Washington, PA is
hosting their Annual Career and College Fair on Fri., March 13, 2015 between the hours of 9:00 AM and
2:00 PM. Businesses, post-secondary schools and agencies have been invited. This is a great opportunity
for students to learn about their choices after high school. Admission is free. If you have any questions,

Attention All Students: Are you interested in joining the National Honors Society? Applications have
been sent home to all sophomores and juniors who qualify. Please be aware that all applications must be
turned in to Mrs. Roth, Okel, or Quirk no later than Monday, March 16th.
Attention All Students & Parents: Sponsored by the members of the National Honors Society, a
veteran’s collection drive is currently being held. This drive benefits the VA Hospital of Pittsburgh and will
run from February 9th to March 6th. The items the NHS is looking to donate to the hospital include: new adult
size t-shirts, adult socks, combs, hair brushes, toothbrushes, etc. These donations can be placed in the
boxes located by the Main Office in the High School.

Attention All Students: Not able to stay after school for math tutoring? If you need to get help on a
homework assignment, review for a test, or just simply receive additional practice, you now have the option
to do so before school. The math department is now offering AM tutoring 3 days a week. Mrs. Palmer and
Ms. Roche will be available for math tutoring on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:30 – 7:05 AM
in Mrs. Ullom's Room AB 111. Hope to see you there!
