What is Barnardos?
Barnardos supports children whose well -being is under threat, by working with them, their
families and communities and by campaigning for the rights of children. Barnardos was
established in Ireland in 1962 and is Ireland’s leading Children’s Charity.
What does the Communications Team do?
The Communications team works with all teams across Barnardos to co-ordinate all external
communications – media, digital and campaigns. We manage Barnardos Press Office, PR
and media relations. We are Barnardos voice online. We work to build Barnardos brand and
increase awareness and understanding of Barnardos work with children and families.
What is our overall aim?
We aim to increase understanding and awareness of Barnardos work with children and
families, to engage and grow support for Barnardos fundraising and advocacy activities and
to maintain and protect Barnardos good reputation.
What will the Digital Communcations Assistant do?
Supporting the Communications team with the updating and development of
www.barnardos.ie. Supporting the Online Executive with digital communications and
campaigns, including content creation in line with brand standards,testing, moderation, and
reporting.
Who are we?
The team consists of a Communications Manager, a Communications Executive and an
Online Executive.

with all other departments across Barnardos
Job purpose
Supporting the Communications team with the updating and development of
www.barnardos.ie. Supporting the Online Executive with digital communications and
campaigns, including content creation in line with brand standards,testing, moderation, and
reporting.
Core job requirements
The Digital Communications Assistant role will support the Online Executive with:
 www.barnardos.ie
 Updating the Barnardos website to support other teams
 Testing, measuring and reporting for continuous improvement
 Monitoring Adword campaigns to drive increased traffic to www.barnardos.ie
 Digital campaigns and communications
 Developing digital copy to promote Barnardos work and campaigns
 Developing suites of rich materials for campaigns, both online and print
 Co-authoring email marketing and supporting other teams
 Social Media
 Co-ordinating and publishing social media updates
 Monitoring online conversations relevant to Barnardos
 The voice of Barnardos in social media in support of the Online Executive
 Support with specific digital communication projects
 Any other duties from time to time
Requirements of all Barnardos staff
