GRIHA has been instrumental in driving design and construction of sustainable habitats
across the country. With policy integration and incentives offered by several states
compliance with GRIHA is quickly becoming the norm.
This session will focus on examples, experiences and performance of projects and
project teams across the country. Varied geographies, scales of projects and resource
specific interventions shall be showcased by each of the speakers.

approaches being adopted to ensure water optimisation and availability of clean

implemented to provide water for all.

Cities in India are urbanising like never before. As India embarks on a new urbanisation
initiative with its ‘100 Smart Cities project’, cities present immense opportunities in terms

sustainable and smart growth.

Sustainability has emerged as the key driver of innovation in this century. Impending
resource crunch worldwide and the knowledge of our common future has made one
thing very clear, that sustainable development is the only way forward. Every
organization today is moving ahead towards the goal of sustainability, though there is a
lack of clarity on the business case of being environment friendly. This has given fuel to
the need of new ideas like improving efficiency of existing systems, filling gaps in the
supply chain, exploring eco-friendly materials etc.

Track I - Transform to perform

With decades of focus on the new building stock, India is now poised to unlock the
inefficient performance pattern of existing buildings. TERI and the US Green Building
Council (USGBC) have forged a strategic collaboration to work towards transforming
performance of the existing built environment.
This session shall witness launch of the LEED EB and Alternate Compliance Paths (ACPs)
jointly developed by TERI and USGBC. Experts, consultants and officials of USGBC, TERI
and GBCI shall share their experiences on the tools and platforms developed to address
issues around resource optimization in existing buildings.

Track II - GRIHA Trophy at NASA: Bridging the gap between Theory & Practice of
architecture for sustainable buildings

GRIHA Trophy was launched at NASA (National Association of Students of Architecture)
last year. Considering the recent growth in the residential real estate and their
inclination to get GRIHA rating, the Trophy brief requires the students to design a
sustainable housing complex at a given location in NOIDA.
This session will showcase the winning entries of the competition. Further, there will be a
panel discussion that will deliberate on bridging the gap between Theory & Practice in
Architecture.

Energy consumption of the building forms a substantial part of an organization’s
expense. Very often retrofitting an existing building is financially more feasible than
building something new.
This session will focus on some fresh ideas to enhance the performance of existing
buildings. In addition industry experts will be sharing their experiences of effective

Evaluators & Trainers programme
16th to 18th March 2015
The 3-day workshop will be divided into fourteen sessions including the GRIHA website
demonstration and the GRIHA Evaluator and Trainer qualifying exams. The program will focus
on sustainable site planning, water and waste water management, building design
optimization, energy performance optimization, renewable energy utilization, solid waste
management, sustainable building material and construction technology, health & well-being
and environmental quality.
